Remarks
The college has a very good faculty and the overall diversity of students is great. The learning pedagogy makes it unique and experiential learning makes it one of a kind. Placements are great and hence the long term career aspects look great too. This might not be as great as the Top B-schools which are tier 1 but as a tier 2 college, it is really good. Also, Mumbai being the commercial capital of India gives a location advantage to this college. The admission process considers various competitive exam scores like CAT, XAT, CMAT, NMAT & GMAT. Prior workex gives candidates a good advantage for the admissions. Also, performance in CAPI rounds is really important to get into the MBA program. I used the college social media platforms and shiksha.com and MBA360 websites to know about this program. Also, Pagalguy helped me in taking an informed decision.
Course Curriculum Overview
The overall experience with the faculty had been really great. All of them have a good amount of industry experience and various journals, research papers etc. Published in their names which are being referred by various MBA students throughout the world. The student to faculty ratio is approx 8:1. Most of the faculty have a doctorate degree. The teaching methods being used are experiential in nature. Various case studies are being used from well known publications to make the students understand the topics in a critical manner. The exams are conducted timely and are moderate to pass. There is a healthy mix of presentations, projects, group activities, simulations etc. For reviewing the performance of the students.
Internships Opportunities
The college offers internships across all the domains. Various roles are offered based on the interest of the students. There are many opportunities being offered to students. The stipend is also decent. The placement cell helps throughout the placement process.
Placement Experience
The placements are pretty decent with an average package of approx. 10.5 LPA. The highest package being offered is 28.5 LPA. Some of the top companies visit the campus across all the specialisations. The placements are 100 percent for students who are willing to get placed. I have received an offer for 13 LPA in a startup with a decent role being offered. Final placements start in the month of August. More than 150 companies visit the campus for final placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
The institute has significantly increased the fees in the recent past. But during the covid period, the institute waved off the Hostel and mess fee which was really great from their end. The fee is almost at par with most of the top B-schools of the country. The average stipend of the students is above 25k with the highest stipend of 1.25 lacs being offered. There are not many scholarship opportunities offered. Only students coming from a humble background receive some concession on the hostel fee on showing the income proofs.
Campus Life
Life at the campus is really great with almost every facility on campus. Well stack Library with almost 1 lac books, Gym, amazing sports facilities etc. The annual management fest named Melange conducted in February month is an amazing learning opportunity with many experienced personalities visiting the campus and a number of activities planned. The student-run initiatives are the USP of this institution with 28 different committees based on the interest of the students to choose to be part of. ENACTUS Somaiya Social Cell, Consultancy, Interface, Finstreet, Placements Committee, Alumni Committee and many more.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel room is a triple sharing room with all the facilities in the room. The hostel provided high-speed WiFi facility. The food is really good in the hostel mess. The registration process was simple and was done along with the admissions process. The hostel is a bit expensive because of the location but provides all the facilities. It is just 2 mins. walk from the college campus. There is a separate hostel building for boys and girls. The campus is a vegetarian campus with some strict rules to be followed.
Interview Experience
Instead of a Group discussion round, there was a case analysis round where a small case was provided and we were required to provide the answers/solutions to the questions. Most of the topics were general and could be answered easily if you are updated with the current happenings in the news. The Case Analysis round was followed by the PI round which was mostly based on learnings from work experience, behavioural questions and some technical knowledge. There was also some problem solving skills tested by providing situation based questions.
