Summer Internship

The Himalayan IIM what we call IIM Sirmaur the lush green campus and the view of beautiful mountains from every corner of college is just astonishing. The IIM tag always helps but with your skills. The infrastructure and amenities are up to the mark. The mess food is normal. IIM Sirmaur offers admission via CAT and is part of CAP colleges in the interview process. CAT happens in November and results are announced in January and interviews are completed by March. Shortlist and mail letter are rolled out in April. The only reason to choose from baby IIMS was campus life at IIM Sirmaur.

I got an offer letter for MBA-HR from IIM Ranchi and Trichy but I chose an MBA over those two courses because a general management degree will give the flexibility to switch domain even when you are working. There are 10-15 faculties in house faculties while there 20+ guest faculties. And the curriculum is on par with all the IIMs but if you still find any of the course you can request them to add to the curriculum. All the faculties are qualified and the guest faculties are from premier B schools with vast experience. MBA is all about relative grading so there is no certain difficulty level but it is difficult to score good grades as you are competing among the brilliant minds in India.

The placement committee gives ample opportunities but most of the companies are a startup and offer sales role but big names like ICICI do visit for summer placements. The roles are varied but you need to bag the right opportunity and many opt-outs of the process to get into good companies.

The season for placement starts at the start of the 5th semester and goes on till everyone gets placement. The average CTC is 12 lakhs with the highest placement of 25 lakh for 2020. Placement is 100% but with some opting out of placement 80-90% of students get placed actually.

The fee structure for the current academic session is 1250000 for all six semesters excluding mess fees which are to be paid monthly. The fee is hiked by 10% every year. There is no kind of financial assistance but being an IIM you will get a collateral-free loan of up to 20 lakhs without any hassle.

The campus life is very good at IIM Sirmaur. The annual fest of IIM Sirmaur is Sierra and it happens in February - March. The library has a good collection of reference books to fulfil your reading appetite. The temporary campus has the limitation but still, the classrooms are well equipped with necessary facilities.

The rooms are double sharing with common washrooms. The construction of the building is old but basic amenities like a washing machine and geyser are in common areas and there are a common fridge and tv in the recreation room. There is a compulsion for Hostel and mess so there is no other option.

There is a CAP from a few new and baby IIMS where you are allotted an interview city of your choice and an allotted slot. On interview day there are different panels and first of all everyone has to Writing Assessment Test (WAT) on a topic given to you and after that, you need to go through the interview process.
