Admission process: for taking admission to this college candidate have to clear West Bengal joint entrance examination (WBJEE). Admission is based on the rank scored by the candidate in WBJEE. Candidate appearing for jee mains can also get admission to this college but the cutoff for JEE score is high in comparison to WBJEE score. It means a candidate requires fewer marks in WBJEE can get first priority in comparison to candidate jee mains score. First priority is given to WBJEE score and then jee score. For lateral admission to polytechnic candidates, they also have to clear (JELET) conducted by West Bengal board respectively.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose BTech Computer Science as it is having a good placement record for the last 5 years. Not of CSE but all tech branches like IT, ECE also has a good placement record in comparison to other branches. Coming to students the class size is 50- 70 students including girls and boys. Faculty are highly skilled and qualified. Most of them have completed their MTech from NIT Durgapur and others from top recognized universities. There are 2 semesters in a year and 8 internal exams i.e 4 internal/sem. Internals are easy but semester is average if you study then only you can score good marks.
Placement Experience
Students from 7th semester are eligible to seat in placements in on campusing. There are mainly service-based companies who visit our campus for hiring like TCS, WIPRO and most of the startup also come for hiring students. The thing is that one who seriously covered the basics of their subjects and good at coding then they are going to get placed. But one more important thing is their personality development and communication skills should be improved and it can be achieved by doing Nptel courses and taking part in co-curricular activities. It gives the highest package of 10 lakhs and the average is 3.5 LCS. Students from IT/CSE/ECE branches almost all are placed. Almost 60-70% students are placed. Not all the students but 20% of them are placed in good reputed service-based companies. And rest others they are also placed with a decent package. It also depends upon the strength and calibre of students how he/she performs in interviews.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee of BTech is 80,000/year for all streams including Computer science and engineering, Electrical engineering, Electronics and communication engineering, Chemical engineering, Information technology. There are many options and opportunities for a scholarship offered by this college like NSP for students belonging from any state and for students from West Bengal they have a others state scholarship offers. These scholarship forms are made available by college and students fulfilling their criteria and eligibility almost get it.
Campus Life
The campus is ragging free and students friendly. Annual fest "Simon Tech" occurs once in 4 years. Other is Tech fest /year. Students from another college also participate in these fests. Rangostav especially at the time of Holi also held. Books related to Gate/Engineering are available in the library. There are varieties of books by different renowned authors. Journals are also published. Classrooms include rooms used for scheduled instruction which are equipped with tablet armchairs and smartboard for teaching along with normal whiteboard for practice purpose. Well ventilated and organized. Sports at the college level are held once a year. In which badminton/cricket/100 m race, 400m race/ high jump/ javelin throw and many other games are played. There are many clubs run by our seniors and juniors too like Roca club which provide a platform for technical events and seminar and Yodha the martial arts club student fitness and health.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is another home for students. A home away from home. In hostels, there are rooms in which 3 sharing/ 4 sharing/ 2 sharing and even single sitter also allowed. Each room has essential items like (Bed+Table+Chair+Cupboard)/students. The bathroom is attached in the room for 2 seaters but those who opt for 4 seater/ 3 seater bathrooms and basins are separate from the room. Coming to meals. The mess provides a meal 5 times a day. Starting from healthy breakfast in the early morning from 8.30 to 9.30 lunch in the afternoon from 12.30 to 1.30 and snacks in the evening 6.30 to 7.30 to dinner at night from 8.30 to 9.30. From morning to night in every meal Non-Veg is included. So it's considered good and healthy for non-vegetarians but it doesn't offer many varieties for vegetarian all they have many options for nonveg. Anyone who wants to reside in hostels then at the time of admission only they have to pay hostel fees in advance for semester hostels is safe and secure.
