Remarks

The management is also awesome. The staff is co-operative and is always ready for help. They have been of great help to me personally during acquiring TC. Overall, this college is one of the best in the country.

Entrance Preview

There is no entrance for Arts side. You have to score well in your HSC. I scored 92.66% and thus got the admission. This college is one of the nest and always features in top 10 list (for BA Courses). Hence, I chose this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum is projects very good synthesis of local, national and international elements. It has elements of history of the marathas, India and of the world. Thus the syllabus is challenging as well as very helpful. It shapes the overall thinking capability of the student.

Internships Opportunities

No. As we are arts students the college does not provide for any internship. It is available for vocational and science courses.

Placement Experience

3.5

For arts background students, the placements do not take place. However, for vocational and science background students, placements are done. Many reputed companies visit the campus for the purpose. Also, many Psychology and Economics students acquire jobs through placements sometimes.

College Events

5

In the matter of events, Fergusson college is one of the best in the country. Each department has its own special fest. Among these the Economics department's WALLSTREET is the most famous fest. The annual gathering of the college is known as OORJA where students perform different arts like dance and singing.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure for arts side is very feasible. We were charged only around Rs 2000 as our tuition fees per year. Except for this, we have to also pay for mid term and final exam fee which is not more than 800. So overall, the fee structure is very good. Anyone can afford almost any course in this college.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are many scholarships / loan facilities available. However, as I was an arts background student, I did not avail any of these scholarships/loans.

Campus Life

5

The campus life of Fergusson college is awesome. There are different groups working for the betterment of college and society as a whole. The gender ratio is also very good and the college is very good for women/girls to take up higher studies. There is always some kind of extracurricular activity going on in the college campus. Science labs are well equipped and well managed. Sport and other competitions are held throughout the year and are very good.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel facilities for both boys and girls are amazing. Boys studying graduation get single bed room. This, for me was the best part. Apart from that, the hostel also has many facilities like newspaper, drinking water. The washrooms are cleaned everyday. The fee structure of hostel is also very affordable. Fees for a year is around 20-25 k.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network of Fergusson college is very strong and this network is very helpful for the juniors especially those who belong to science branch. Senior students always help the junior students especially in studies.

Exam Structure

The exams take place twice a year. Mid term exams are conducted and the scores are then converted into 20 marks and feature in the final mark sheets. This exam is of 60 marks but marks gained are adjusted for 20 marks. The final exams are of 80 marks where a student is expected to write answers in descriptive form. This exam has is for rest of the 80 marks.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty of the college is very good. There is no compromise with the quality in any manner. Only the best and most experienced teachers are offered jobs here. Many of the Professors here are some of the best professors in the subjects they teach.

Quite substandard and below average. Prioritised rote learning over critical thinking. Just a rubber stamp for a degree. No actual education ever took place. Exams were anually or bi annually. Exams were difficult if you cannot write 30 pages in 3 hours.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've B.A (Psychology and philosophy) as my course. According to NEP you can do majors in psychology from 2nd year onwards and this will be decided on the basis of your result. Only 1st 90 students will be able to secure psychology seat and out of this 1st 45 students will haved aided course and 2nd half will have unaided course i.e they have to pay more than the 1st half but the faculty would be the same and the class is also same for both the halves. Also the course structure is nice and interesting enough.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It's good, it's fun and I enjoy it. It changes every sem and that's why we also get to explore more of the subjects. It also depends on the professor tho. First year is to chose 6 different subjects and explore. Then second year you get to choose one major and two minors. Major are then divided into 3 parts, the 2 minor subject are elaborated and one compulsory subject which is English, this continues for third year. There are 2-3 additional subjects that change every sem too like PE, EVS, etc.
