A campus life you must live once in your life - Fergusson College

With the rising demands of Artificial intelligence in the world I always wanted to be a part of this and data being the new fuel is available everywhere. This corse has taught me maths , stats and programming languages to carry our data analytics , data mining , data preparation and model buildings. The curriculum starts gearing up slowly and takes you to another level in the real world applictations. There are subjects on AWS and azure which are also a need of the hour these days. The exams are held in internals and externals manner , if you have prepared well and knows the concpets they would not be difficult.

The college offers decent internship opportuinities ot the students, the comapanies hire us for different roles such as Data analysts, PowerBI analysts, data engineers, AI researchers and more if any. Most of the internships offered are paid ranging between 10 k - 15 k per month. There projects such as LLMs, AI Chatbots, Prediction models etc.

Placements in Fergusson are pretty good. Students are eligible for sitting in the placement drives from the 3rd semester, we also get Pre-placment activities and tests before the drive starts. We get companies like Axtria, Vois , bluepineapple etc on campus. The highest package is 10 - 12 lakhs and 4-6 lakhs on an average. In my batch out of the 30 people we 20 are placed so far on campus.

The year wise fee I paid for my Masters course in Data Science was 1,28,000. The course includes subjects such as Statistics, mathematics, SQL, Machine learing, Deep learning, Research methodology, python, R , Natural language processing and many data sicnce case study and data science forefronts related sessions. Also , advanced SQL, Tableau, PowerBI were taught. Coming back to the fee structure we had RS. 34,500 as our tuition fee, 3,350 as exam fee for one semester. Whereas my batchmates who were pursuing Masters in Computer Apllictaions had to pay a yearly fees of about 85000.

The social life at campus is amazing, we have our Annual fest during Dec-Jan , in which we have our very famous cultural program knows as SPANDAN , we have tech- fest at our campus and during this time lasts for arounf a week or two the college has a different vibe and there is so much fun. We get sports fest also during this period , we have different sports as javellin, shot-put , cricket , basketball, football and what not. The library available to us has a wide range of books and materials and separate studying areas inside. there are different clubs on campus , the oratory club , data science club and a lot of other activities going on the campus through out the year.

I had heard a lot about Fergusson College in my school time, somewhere deep down I had always wished to come here and study also i did my bachelors from the same college so it was obvious for me to choose this place . Also FC has amazing faculty members which made me choose it. I gave the entrance test on an online platform for my masters course got second in the list and went straight for the admission process within a week after results were out. I had applied to Modern College as well and got my admission confirmed also but because i got into FC I did not do any further process for modern college. The admission process goes smooth , once the results are out we are called to the college for document verification and regitrations, then fee payment and college starts. The eligibility is that you dont hold any backlogs from your bachelors degree.

So as we were just 30 students in MSc. Data Scinece course, 2 faculty members were available for us at all times. Talking about the faculty-student relationship it is amazing bond you get to make with the faculty, there sweet, always there to help and full of knowledge. One of my best Professor is Dr. Rasika Kulkarni mam, she taught me python in the first semester and Deep learning and Natural language processing in the second. She is the source of immense knowledge i would say, also Dr. Smita Bhanap mam is an amazing professor , she taughgt me SQL and machine learning along with Big data Analytics. All the faculty members are such amazing people that you can just blindly follow them. We have internals and external exams during the course, in the internals we have assignmnets, presentations and a small 20 mark exam for both theory and practicals whereas in the externals we have 60 marks theory paper and 40 marks practical though it is flexible as this keeps changing according to the need of the college.

Fergusson College being in the main city is a center of attraction, there are a lot of cafes, stores and the famous FC ROAD market here. There are different kinds of foods that you can try, there are different things to explore. Our college has gymkhana , we have 3 canteens on our campus namely IMDR. Media and Anna canteen. The locality is fully safe at night time also, the hostel timings are like 8 pm maybe but you can take any PGs as there are many available near the college.
