MIT Manipal, BE, Information Science & Engineering

Remarks

I loved my college and you will too if you join MIT. You will never regret. Manipal is a town full of students studying different courses. You will have a total new experience which you will remember your entire life. If given a choice I would like to visit Manipal again and see how it has changed over the years only negative thing I would say is the high fees.

Entrance Preview

I took an exam hosted by Manipal group of Engineering i had scored a rank of 1460. I got the selection letter at my home i was elated to get that. I heard that I would be getting the mechanical branch at this rank. I was called for the first round of counselling held at the Campus in Manipal. My dad went there and told that few students who got admission elsewhere in IIT and NIT's have withdrawn there application and hence I managed to get IT. I always wanted to do engineering in Computers and hence joined the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Teachers are learned they have extra classes also in case you want to clear the subject in detail. The curriculum is common for all branches for the first year like in any other engineering college. From the second year we were given Computers related classes. Like C++ and Java. There were lot of labs also for learning microprocessor etc.

Internships Opportunities

They prefer that the companies who have recruited the students during placements actually provide them with the internship as well, and that's what students also prefer. But for the left over lot , college makes sure to engage them into projects and works rigorously with them to score good grades. As far as the stipend is considered, If you are doing internship in college , you wont get paid.

Placement Experience

4

The placement for my batch ( 2010) had a good placement , by the end of 7th sem, 70% of the students in IT were given offer letters by TCS. We were damn excited. After that the placement season actually began where companies like oracle, philips, cisco, nokia and other software giants visited the campus.

College Events

5

There are plenty of events in MIT. starting from the fresher party. There are multiple clubs like IEEE, MAFIA etc. each of them hosts events like punjabi nights, dandia nights etc. Apart from this you can also enjoy the invite from KMC , for certain fests.

Fee Structure And Facilities

In my time it was 12000 for the whole year. This was excluding hoster fee which was additional 12000 for the semester. Now I have heard that it has increased to 170000 per year or even more. But I would say it's worth as the facilities you get there are super awesome. U tend to interact with students across the globe. In my class half of them were from NRI quota.

Fees and Financial Aid

Not aware of it but I feel surely there would be some option to do that. You need to check with the student department in the main building.

Campus Life

4.5

I would say that you will get the taste of Mini India living in manipal for 4 years. You will also get an international experience interacting with students from different countries. when people from across the globe sit together in mess and chat and have food, it feels amazing. There is a very cool food court, which serves food in cheap rates and ultimate quality. You can relish breakfast, lunch , evening tea and snack and dinner there with nominal rastes. There is a student campus store which keeps all the basic ameninties for the students at there convenience. Other than that there are small shops, canteens and juice /chat centers to relish and hang out with friends. Gender ratio is equal. There are almost equal numbers of boys and gals.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Well this is something which is really good about MIT hostel has a variety which you can choose according to your budget there are rooms starting from triple sharing to single occupancy with AC. The 13th block is heaven for girls. It the most exclusive block in the campus. Only rich people would be able to afford it but then it is worth it.

Alumni/Alumna

Not much, In fact there is not much need to consult them, The faculty does it all. And then you work with the fellow students. Seniors mostly would be busy in there own curriculum and activities.

Exam Structure

There are 8 semesters each semester has 3 sessional exams in which there is paper for 20 marks for each subject, along with viva etc. At the end of 3 sessionals , best of 2 are counted for the addition to the final marks. for eg if you scored 14/20, 10/20 and 16/20 for a subject in each sessional , you would be getting 30/40 + 10 marks for quiz which happens in 2 rounds , 5 marks each in class anytime when the teacher likes. so the total marks that you get out of 50 are added to the rest of 50 marks paper that you take at the end of the sem.

Admission

There is a form of Manipal group, you can get that at there website. Fill it and attach a DD of the mentioned address and send it to their office. You would be getting the hall ticket after some days u have to carry that hall ticket and go to the chosen center on the day of exam the exam would be online.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty is damn cool they teach sincerely they are always ready to clear your doubts they give reading material, books and slides to study students are given there personal laptops from the day 1. Its fun learning from books, and slides and internet. Faculty helps a lot while making projects they assist you personally and help the weak students.

They fake a lot of their placements....now the bangalore campus currently has 40%placements but they fake the placement rates to make it look like its 80 or 90% which is sad...i heard that if u have really bad marks and couldnt get placed(a lot of ece and eee people, cause they will purposefully try to fail u so that u can apply for the couse again) they will make u sign a document were u agree u never sat for placements.

Students at RVCE become eligible for campus placements typically from the seventh semester onwards. Several reputed companies visit the campus for recruitment, offering a wide range of job opportunities to students. Some of the prominent companies include Infosys, Wipro, TCS, IBM, and Accenture, among others. These companies make a significant number of job offers across various profiles, including software development, consulting, and research. The highest package offered varies from year to year and can range from ?10-20 lakhs per annum, depending on the company and the profile offered. The average package generally falls between ?4-8 lakhs per annum. The percentage of students getting placements varies, but RVCE has a consistently high placement record, with a significant majority of students securing job offers during campus placements.
