Remarks
I wanted to join a college that provides good ROI and VGSoM has one of the best ROIs in the country if not the best. Apart from this, people with IT background get a good placement as this college is a preferred destination for Analytics enthusiasts. Also, the batch strength at VGSoM is way below New IIMs and other private colleges which helps in the placement process. However, this can be a drawback as the diversity of roles suffer in comparison to a college with a larger batch size. The major drivers for me joining the college was the ROI and a low batch strength.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is quite flexible with many electives on offer. Right from the second semester onwards, students are allowed to choose electives based on their areas of interests. Also, the college offers a micro specialization in Analytics which is its forte, however, finance courses are not generally taken up by students here.
Placement Experience
The campus placements are good with multiple offers in multiple domains. The average package is around 17 LPA and the median is around 16 LPA. Many students get placed in consulting and analytics. The course curriculum is also designed in such a way that such offers become feasible to the candidates.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is relatively low as compared to other top B-schools. It has a provision for scholarship wherein a student is offered a scholarship based on merit and financial needs. Fees for 2 years is 10.5 lakhs. 1 lakh is charged for SMU international programme which is a great initiative by VGSoM.
Campus Life
The lush green campus is a treat to your eyes. There are multiple clubs to develop your extra-curricular. Since the batch strength is low students get a chance to be a part of multiple clubs and committees. Also, the campus has an extraordinary infrastructure with the National Digital Library being on the campus itself. VGSoM's yearly festival Purvodaya has seen exemplary footfalls over the years.
Interview Experience
I had to face an online PI. The questions revolved majorly on my graduation subjects of Electronics Engineering. VGSoM focuses a lot on technical knowledge in the PI rounds and you need to be sound with it. Also, I had read current happenings from around the world to be abreast with what may be asked. I was also asked a few basics of economics questions like GDP, National income etc in my interview.
