Remarks
I appeared for only two exams which were JEE and UPSEE although I cleared JEE mains but could not get any college. UPSEE was my only chance left after some digging I got to know that AKGEC (Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College) is among the top colleges of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow. That's how I ended up here. UPSEE was held around 21 April that year. After the result, the counselling process started from around the 3rd of July. I did the choice filling and had chosen government colleges above my current college but this college was 4th or 5th on that list so I was pretty satisfied when my seat was allotted here. Counselling process ran for about a month and after the final round, we needed to do a physical report at college till 31 July. Classes started on the 1st of August. I had read many reviews on Quora about this college being strict but I didn't have any problem with that so I opted for this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was always interested in doing my graduation in the field of computer science so I opted for this branch. In the first year, the syllabus is the same for all branches. Regarding faculty, no. Of faculty members is quite large and we see so many faculty members walking on campus all the time. Most of the faculty members are PhD. And some are MTech. During my first year, I found that faculty is unbelievably supportive for every student on our campus. While many professors taught us very well and some were not that good but one thing was the same for them all which was that they all were always ready to help us out in anything. We could call them and text them to ask anything their behaviour is one thing that I will always admire most. Exams are the most common thing in our college. There are so many exams before the end semester examination that students get tired of them. All exams have their fair share of weightage in final internal marks ranging from 1 mark to 20 marks.
Placement Experience
Right now I am just in my second year so I don't know much about placements and all. But I think 6th and 7th-semester students appear for placement interviews etc. Teachers have told us that most of the students of Computer science-related branches are placed in some company or the other while mechanical and civil students are rarely placed anywhere. I have heard of TCS and Infosys visiting our campus every year and many students are placed here as well. While I have heard that Amazon also visited our college once but no one was placed. The average package for our college would be 2.5 to 3 LPA. While some of our well-deserved seniors go for off-campus placement and they get higher than 12 LPA as well. 75-80% of students in my course (CSE related) are placed. I plan for trying to get a decent placement on the campus while studying hard to make myself capable of going out of my comfort zone and hitting some great companies off campus as well.
Fees and Financial Aid
As it is a private institution it is pretty obvious that fee is quite high for middle-class families. For our course, it is approximately 1.2 lacs per annum. This fee includes everything like book bank issues by the college, infrastructure fees, tuition fees, etc. However, the hostel here costs more or less approximately the same amount of money. But I live in a paying guest near the college that is relatively very cheap. The fee is paid on per year basis, not on semester wise basis. Students studying in our college can apply for UP government scholarship facilities if they are eligible for that. Eligibility conditions are that one should belong to UP and his annual income should be less than 2 lacs per annum (some relaxation for categories other than general). I applied for the scholarship as well. College helps students in case they need it. Some of my friends got a scholarship around 50,000rs. But I (all belonging to a general category) didn't get scholarship due to unavailability of funds.
Campus Life
Social life is very good in our college. Firstly the infrastructure is very good in my opinion I find it really fascinating. Students enjoy so much hanging out near canteen. Fests are not allowed in our college (the reason is unknown to us may be passouts know that). However, fresher's party is organised for 1st year and farewell for the final year. Library of our college is very big and is very nice. It is fully A.C. and is full of all kind of books even the devotional books as well. Many of my friends are part of college teams for different sports. I myself have not known the sporty side of our college because I do not live in a hostel. There are some events which are organised by the cultural and technical societies of our college. There are many societies/clubs in our college both cultural as well as technical. They contribute so much for college like building websites, apps etc. And cultural societies just compete and win prizes for our college in other states.
