Remarks

Irrespective of what you feel in those 4 years or 2 years, it is a very cool NIT and the brand value is evident. The alumni network is now being taken seriously and relations are being cultivated.

Entrance Preview

Through GATE exam I took admission. I scored 98.066 percentile in EC stream GATE exam. I had working experience of Power Plant industry in Instrumentation department which has always been heart of any automation industry. I scored good in GATE exam but not enough to took admission in any IIT. Apart from IIT's I looked froward to take admission in NIT. And obviously NIT jalandhar was my first choice. I chose because its only college in north india having control and instrumentation Engg stream and good placement too.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum is well designed, a fact I realized after starting studying. The concepts are well covered and open electives offered are in a wide variety of subjects (from management to mathematics) and further help in shaping up the studentsl. The ad-hoc faculty members keep coming in and going out so not much can be said about them. If you are lucky you can end up having some dedicated ad hoc faculty member. However some of them will turn out to be the ones who have no academic aspirations and basically ruin the entire subject.

Internships Opportunities

Yes it provides, NIT jalandhar has collaboration with some German institutes in mechanical engineering. I dont know much about stipend but it provides other facilities also like accommodation, food etc.

Placement Experience

4.5

By far, the best thing in NITj, TPO works seamlessly. The only department in the college which does not function like a typical govt. organ. Decisions are made, risks are taken and procedures are subverted to help the students. And they have numbers to be proud of(2011-2015 batch) : 700+ offers with highest pckge of 17 lpa on campus(75 lpa offcampus), over 100 visiting companies. The TPO tops the list of reasons why NIT Jalandhar has gained name in the North Region.

College Events

4.5

SAE – Society for Automotive Eng., Perianth, Avishkar, Daksh, Saksham, Maugli, ASME – American Society for Mechanical Eng., Nitovators, R-tist., These societies held events every year which invite students from different platforms to explore their talent.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure of NIT jalandhar is 2nd Lowert in all NIT's in INDIA. Which makes it affordable for every one. Hostel fee is lowest one in all NIT's. fee structure is not changed in 4 years and its lowest. Students who cant afford and good i study can avails benefit of scholarship,

Fees and Financial Aid

College fee is 2nd lowest in all NIT's. There are two banks inside college which give loans to students on recommendation received from college admin department.

Campus Life

5

The Campus of NITJ is quite beautiful. There is enough greenery in the campus. It has a big ground, basketball court, volleyball court, badminton courts in hostels. The IT building and administrative blocks are also good to look at. Campus life was awesome no one can deny that. Since it is a National Institute of technology then students come from all states and live freely. This college is famous for sports, extracurricular activities and robotics competition. I remember I gave training on robotics at a school in barnola, Punjab. There are uncountable debates or competitions held every semester.

Hostel Facilities

5

The institute has a state if the art Mega-hostel that houses 1600 students, with a couple more of the same under construction. Even the older hostels are very clean and well maintained. The mess is pretty good, and the food is edible, but it isn't the extraordinarily tasty Punjabi food you might dream of / expect. Damn.

Alumni/Alumna

Pride of the institute. Upasna Taku(Founder MobiKwik (company)), Amit Boni(General Manager India Motorola Mobility), Anindya Ghose (Professor at NYU Stern), Manav Garg(Founder EKA Software) Anupam Varghese(VP EKO India) and so many many others. It is a moment of pride when I open Forbes and find an article dedicated to my alumnus and her company(Upasna Taku). Good institutes become great institutes when their Alumni turn back and give a heave to their alma mater. NITj has unfortunately been pathetic in maintaining the Alumni relations. There is no will from the admin or faculty towards this front, there are no appreciation messages for the high achievers from the college side and the alumni meets are poorely managed, advertised and scheduled.

Exam Structure

Its a autonomous college so exam structure is decided by college bodies itself. But I never feel free during exams. If exams are there only thing that can save you is your study. I mean you have to study to score that only options. During exams day you will miss college life it were hectic days.

Admission

I had given GATE 2012 entrance exam. I applied for M. tech program through CCMT 2012. I filled up my choice accordingly. After first counselling result I had to go NIT raipur, nearest NIT to claim my seat some of my documents were verified there too. After that I went NIT jalandhar on given dated for admission process and obviously documents were verified too. I submitted my college fee and hostel fee too.

Faculty

4.5

Every department has a mix of permanent and ad-hoc faculty members. Each department has a few great professors who are instrumental in shaping up the future careers (In Instrument engineering it was Dr A.K. Jain, Dr. Dilbag SIngh, Dr. KS Nagla and many more Drs, other departments have there share of cool professors). The ad-hoc faculty members keep coming in and going out so not much can be said about them. If you are lucky you can end up having some dedicated ad hoc faculty member. However some of them will turn out to be the ones who have no academic aspirations and basically ruin the entire subject.

Teh campus placements are not that good for this course. It's good for BTECH students but for Mtech it is not at par. Till now for my batch hardly 5-6 companies came for internship out of which hardly 4 took the candidates.

Course Curriculum Overview:

You will get many opportunities to furnish yourself as the faculty members are too supportive. You will get to know many conference on daily basis that can upheld your boost and make you morally supportive. Doing masters there would lack of strictness as they thought your are grown up, they considered you only for exams and other circulum activities. University should seriously take in action the role their teachers are playing as they sometimes bunk many classes. Exams are not that tough as you would require basic knowledge of your subject.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Some colleges or universities require prospective students to complete interviews. A school may use this interview to determine a student's eligibility for a specific program, decide if the student deserves a scholarship or assess a student's admittance to the school in general. It's important to prepare for these interviews to provide thoughtful answers. In this article, we discuss why interviewers ask about your course selection and how to answer the question "Why did you choose this course?" and provide example answers to help you develop your own.Aside from the usual considerations in choosing colleges such as tuition fees, course and syllabus offerings, amenities, and distance, the student-faculty ratio should be included as part of one’s personal criteria. It is an important indicator of the learninthereg environment of a particular university or institution, which could affect a student’s overall college experience. There are very sexy and hot girls .
