Vivek Kakkad's Review On All India Institute Of Medical Sciences - [AIIMS], New Delhi

Its AIIMS PG Entrance test which is going to conduct twice yearly in MAY & NOV in nov 2013 exams i got all india rank of 35 & in counseling i got O&G. Its india's no. 1 ranking college in medical field. Also i had given a NEET PG in dec 2013 but its results were quiet late 7 counselling process extended ut to march 2014. As my choice was md medicine, i was eligible for that in almost every college in India but i didn't change. The reason is i love the work.

Its AIIMS. People always focus on research. We have compulsory 1 thesis (research project) in 3 yr of course. Only AIIMS in india in obs & gyn provide learning experience of every sides like high risk obstetrics, infertility & ivf, gynecological oncology, fetal medicine. There is a place where proper evidence based management is going on.

Mine was post graduate MD O&G course our main task is to work in hospital & learn in the hospital. So practical training is also included in each & every MD/MS course. As it is central institute, GOI provides around 70000 per month.

In our medical field there is no placement its so strange that cream of the cream of society from AIIMS hardly get a job of 75000 to 1.25 lac per month job after 10 yr of from 12th Std. In govt job as AP depends on state govt rules we r able to get job which provide a package of 50000-100000/month working patterns is like Monday to Saturday full day , any 1/2 day 24 hrs on call , Sunday have to take round of 1 -2 hrs. Every 3rd or 4th Sunday is also 24 hrs. Just compare with IIT(4yr) & IIM ( around 6 years ) getting packages of 50 lac - 1 cores / yr with 5 days a week working policy.

Feasible 1000 rs for 3yrs, HRA - 8000 If we got the hostel then it deducted its govt institute so fee is not d issue around 10000-15000 expenses per Month including house rent.

Gender ratio in gynecology department at aiims male to female is 2:10. All over in doctors in aiims is around 2 to 3 :1. We got hardly anytime for extracurricular activities. We definitely used to attend d quiz, conferences arranged in delhi as for sports in hospital there is a gym, tennis, badminton, table tennis, basketball grounds we used to organize resident cricket league every year.

Exam structure in Md courses like day to day evaluation by our teachers. 6 monthly theory exams is going to start . Final exams are at end of 3 yrs . Theory exams includes 4 papers followed by practical exams includes 2 major case presentation, 2 minor case presentation & 1 Grand viva.

Faculty of aiims quiet knowledgeable & enthusiatics & always ready to learn new things. Allopathic Medicine is evidence based management so if we r updating ourselves daily then our patient ll get benefited most. Dr. J B Sharma & Prof. Alka Kripalani inspured me a lot.
