Remarks :

It has one of the best sociology departments in kerala. And also, STC is famous for its academic excellence as it's graded A++ during 3rd cycle of NAAC Accredition. It provides us opportunity to excel in nin academic activities, outreach programme sa and to do internships.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum is based on what provided by the university, which seems bit outdated and inconsistent. The syllabus could incorporate more updated branches of sociology as well as some inter disciplinary topics. Yet the course is much interesting and deep. The women and society paper was an eye opener and provided a new perspective to view society. Indeed this course helps to build sociological imagination as a spectacle to understand and analyse our living. And of course, the course helped us to pursue multiple internships during the time of course aling with many outreach programmes.

Placement Experience :

There is zero palcement opputuninty for sociology at STC. But other departments like Bcom, BCA, BSc etc is famous for providing placements and also there are many start ups by my friends in fields of baking, make up studio and boutiques.

College Events :

Our college jas always earned one of the first three places in university youth festival for more than many years. The college has multiple achievements in the field of art and sports. The volleyball team is famous for grabbing many state tournaments.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The college provide some financial aid to economically backward catholic students. The college also promotes accessing many scholarships by the government.

Campus Life :

The campus is comparatively small but has got an efficient gym, full wifi facility, free computer access, a full fledged library with got digitalized completely and many other facilities too. There are many labs too.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel is pretty cool despite its curfew at 5. 30pm and scheduled outings. The phone should be submitted before the warden by 8. The manager also compells the student to attend holy mass and other catholic programmes, which is totally undemocratic. The food sucks and the staffs are totally unfriendly. But three years of hostel life is good enough to provide us with a lot of memories and love. The infrastructure fee ( room rent) is about 21, 000 for 10 months and the mess fees is 3000 per month.

Placement Experience:

From the 3rd year onwards we could attend placement interviews and many companies used to approach our college but mostly IT companies as I was in civil dept the construction companies were very less or NIL. In our batch, most of the students got placed and many offer letters but the only disadvantage was the offers were not from the core companies.
