Remarks

College is good for those who want to learn and also good for those who want to enjoy their engineering life.

Entrance Preview

I took CEE to get into this college, my rank was 499 and I opted for this college because it is the oldest engineering college in the entire north-east.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course is according to Gauhati University and the faculty is very co-operative. As I am from Electronics and telecommunication branch so I have subjects like Analog communication, Digital Electronics, Signals & Systems etc.

Internships Opportunities

Internship experience was good. Training or internship is compulsory after the 6th semester and its is included in our course. The companies that visited our college are TCS, Accenture, Wipro, TNS, IBM, BPCL, Torrecid etc.

Placement Experience

Placement scenario is good. 90% of the eligible students get placed. The training and placement cell works hard for the students.Packages are in the range of 2.5 lacs to 11 lacs.

College Events

Pyrokinesis- the annual cultural event. It is of 2 days long. More than 20 events are organised in these 2 daysUdhbhavanam- the annual technical event. It is also of 2 days and students from various colleges turn up to participate.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As its a govt college, so the fee structure is the least among all the colleges in the region. In a year we have to pay around 17000 as fees. All fees are included in it.

Many scholarships are availed by the students in this college such as Minority, NEC, Scholarships for SC, ST, OBC students, IOCL scholarship.

Campus Life

Gender ratio is 3:1, many cultural programmes are organised by each of the 8 hostels through out the year. All are equally treated and valued in this college. No discrimination is seen in terms of race, sexual orientation, economic status.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel are very good and cheap. In the minimum hostel fee all the facilities are provided such as food, free internet etc

External Expense: Rs. 4000 - Rs. 7000

Alumni/Alumna

Our seniors behave like friends with us and we remain in touch with our seniors even after they pass out and they guide us in our after college life too.

Exam Structure

Every semester i.e of 6 months, we have mid semester and end semester exams. Labs are not so tiring.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Most of the professors are good here.The college covers the core subjects required for strong foundation in engineering. However the theoretical coverage is good the scope for practical exposure is still required.

NIT Silchar Review: Campus, Career and Career Prospects

Placement Experience:

NIT Silchar has decent placement stat. Approx 75 percent student got placement from campus and they got decent package. In NIT Silchar from 7th semester students are eligible for placement and company comes whole year for recruiting. Approx 100 company visit the college throughout the year. In tech Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Walmart and more companies come. For core L&T, Adani, Tata Steel and more companies come. For service base Infosys, TCS, Wipro will come and give good offer. Highest package will come from tech company and that is 52lpa and average from all companies will lie from 10 to 12 lpa . My plans is that in my 4th year atleast I will get one job. If I don't get job then I will try from off campus or giving paper for government job

Placement Experience:

The placement is quite good in my college. In 7 th semester the placements start and the package goes from 16lpa to 2 cr . About 75 percent student who applied got placed . I want to work in a software firm.

The placement of Assam engineering College is average as compared to the other colleges like iit and not. Aec gives placement around 20-24 lakhs and many company parts in the placement cell and many of the students get their dream job

Placement Experience:

Students normally appear for placements in fourth year with two placement seasons namely from december to january and february to march. Companies include quant companies and tech giants like JPMC, Reliance Industries, WellsFargo,Piramal, Standard Chartered,Texas Instrumentation, walmart, Microsoft, Amazon, Deloitte,Oracle, HCL, Barclays, Tata steel, uber, legato, Mastercard, Nutanix, BPCL, BEL,PWC, Socgen, etc. Almost 80% students get placed every year with the average package ?1,60,000. The highest package was 1.68 crore per annum from the branch of Computer Science.

ASSAM UNIVERSITY SILCHAR , THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY

Placement Experience:

only fourth year students are eligible for campus placements . the detalis of the visiting compaies are not thte sure but at least 10 stuents are placed each year from every single batch. the higest so far was 20 lpa and it was in amazon , the student who cracked that placement applied it off campus . on campus placement was not more than 10 lpa so far . the percentage of students getting placemnets are less than 50% not because of quality of placement but majority stuents opt for higher studies or goverment jobs rather than direct placement . my paln is to also pursue higher education
