Remarks
I took this course because I wanted to pursue law. And I chose CUSAT because their education system is more research oriented and it's not too expensive compared to other colleges. The University Hostels are also very cheap. So in a nutshell, you get good education for relatively less.
Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus was good. Nevertheless, it needs to be updated regularly and there were a few updation required during my time there. There was adequate industrial exposure. They have helped a lot in finding internships for students. They organise regular seminars headed by industry experts and great academicians.
Internships Opportunities
Internship is to be applied for. I had interned with lawyers in Kerala and it's just by getting their approval by sending a covering letter, internship request and my CV. I have interned in KSK, a Bangalore law firm. I had made a similar application and a recommendation from my college.Stipends weren't a regular thing though I got TA/DA
Placement Experience
As I was a law student, I wanted to do litigation rather than find a corporate job. Most of my friends are into litigation too. However we had placement drives where two companies came and selected interested students. They didn't join due to the low salary package.Alumni is doing a great job in connecting students with reputed lawyers. And most of my batchmates are working in the best firms in Kerala at the moment.
College Events
Campus life in CUSAT is unparalleled. There are atleast 36 departments in a huge campus and with a student population of atleast 7000. There are ample facilities for studies, sports, music, dance, coding, social commitments. You just have to choose your area of interest and you'll be having the facility available in CUSAT.
Fees and Financial Aid
I had availed SBI educational loan. There are scholarships and grants available to backward classes and other eligible groups. The details can be seen on the official university website. As I haven't availed the grants, I don't have clear idea about the details. There are available anyways.
Campus Life
The library is one of the best in South India. It is vast. WiFi is provided in every department, every library. Labs are also world class and I don't have a direct knowledge as I was a law student. We had regular mooting practises and they were judged efficienlty.
Hostel Facilities
Availing hostel facility depends on the distance between the University and your hometown. Allotments are made on the basis of distance. Hostel rent is hardly 300 per month. Rooms are shared between 2 or 3 students. Mess facility is also present where the food is not so bad and is price effective.
