Remarks

The college is overall great which provides technical exposure and various opportunities in the field of research and technology for the students aspiring for studies from a reputed institute. It provides industrial exposure which helps in career building and learning present technologies and trends in the market.

Entrance Preview

I have given GATE examination and have scored 97.8 percentile. On the basis of the score card of GATE and academics i was shortlisted for the interview. After the interview i got the admission.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course was 2 year long which had 4 sems. Each sem had 4 subjects including projects. First sem was the common sem for all the students after which each individual has to select the specialization field followed by subjects in that field.

Internships Opportunities

I have done my internship from huawei for 6 months. The avaerage stipend ofered is 17k per month and it depends on the company which includes cisco, yahoo IBM, Intute, etc offering stipend upto 30k per month .Students getting scholorship from the various organization have to stick to the respective company and the stipend offered is fixed for them which is 15k per month.

Placement Experience

The average package which a student gets is 7-8l per annum. Companies like yahoo, flipkart, IBM, Cisco, nvedia, intel, microsoft, etc recruits students from the college and placement is 100%. Microsoft offers 18L while flipkart and yahoo has offered 14.5L, Cisco 12.5 and others upto 10L.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible. Though pretty expensive as compared to IITs but is affordable unlike those at management institutes. Students can take loan of 4L and can repay it easily considering the job opportunities offered by IIITB.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college offers various scholarships to the meritorious students. The students are shortlisted on the basis of their resume and then interviewd by the comapnies which offer scholorship of 7k per month and internship for 6 months for 15k per month.Various companies like infosys, siemen, huawei,ets offers scholorships. College doesnt provide any loan as such.

Exam Structure

The exam structure consists of pre-sem exam and final sem exam followed by project presentations and viva. Each exam has grades with equal weightage. The last sem accessed by the internship project report or the thesis written by the individual.

A mini heaven on earth called NITK

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Mtech Thermal Engineering because I was interested in thermal subjects like Fluid mechanics, Heat transfer, CFD. The Curriculum is pretty decent and it does covers the fundamentals and advanced topics of the particular subject but it could be better in terms of imparting practical and industrial knowledge. The exams that are held in NITK are competitive and requires a good understanding of the subject. You simply cannot cram and get good marks in exam. You have to know the proper implementation of that particular formula or theory.

After joining the course with 3 months of starting of the course the placements will be startedforthe students to apply for the placements. Campus placement conditions have improved in IISc after the inception of campus placement cell. Average package is around I would say 25 lpa. IIIT-B A HUB OF INNOVATION AND EXPERIENCE

So I was getting IIT Mandi Mechanical , VIT-CSE ,IIIT-Allahabad- ECE(CSAB) but i chose this college because of the quality of education and the course curriculum along with the good placement every year and when i consulted and talked with many people who are working in industry they told that CSE is the future branch so yeah and also the city is banglore itself which impacts very much and also i thought that when i am getting CSE in a tier -1 institute it is best to take it over other options. IIIT-B provides UG admission on the basis of only JEE Mains CRL, there is no reservation policy here , the cutoff for BT-CSE was about CRL-8700 (99.4 percentile approx) the overall admission process is very smooth it mostly online and we also have one offline campus round in which we can sure shot confirm our seat ....Read More

IIITB, only one more i but no less opportunity

1) I applied to NIT Rourkela via jossa cousneling and got addmisson there. i chose this college because of its placement data and review about fauclty that i got. 2) No i did not apply to many colleges as there was no need to because of my jee percentile. 3) Admision process is very simple. College prepares their internal rank list woth respect to students who have applied and their JEE crl rank. after that every student in line is given chance to choose their brach(respect to availabiltiy of branch).
