Remarks

Loreto college Kolkata is a girl's college known for its greenery, cleanliness and zeal for academic excellence. The college building is always spick and span, the staff and faculty are very helpful however the dress code and discipline might be areas of concern for some. The forms for undergraduate admissions are available right after the results are declared. There are some streams for which no entrance exams like history, are conducted while for some like geography exams are compulsory. These details are mentioned in the college website. I applied for Bachelor's in History which was a stream eligible for direct admission. The forms were available online and a printed copy was to be submitted in the college office. The results were available online after a week. I chose the college as many of my family members have attended it and have said positive things about it. Quora also has many of its former students speaking about the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose this course because of the excellent faculty of the college and my passion for the subject. The student teacher ratio is excellent at 25:1. The faculty is highly qualified and their details and credentials are mentioned in the college website. The teachers are helpful and help the students to bring out the best in them. The college library is open shelf where students can browse through books and they are always encouraged to develop their own opinions. Regular class tests are taken to assess the students. Internal assessments are also held and marksheets are also provided. Regular feedback is given to students. The teachers encourage students to study throughout the year and questions are set according to what is taught in class. However questions also challenge the cognition of the students.

Placement Experience

2.5

The students become eligible for placements in their third year of the undergraduate program. Companies like Zomato, Itc, Cognizant have conducted placement drives in the college. Salaries range from 1 to 3 lakhs per annum. A dedicated placement cell is in place for conducting the placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

The admission fees with the quarterly fees is around 12000 for undergraduate courses. If the student selects any practical subjects like geography or psychology laboratory charges of around 700 is levied. The college is UGC funded thus the cost of education is reasonable. The lion's club and Rotary club provide regular scholarships to needy students. Scholarship is provided to students under Indigenous Youth Program as well. Jobs are available on campus and there is a dedicated placement cell.

Campus Life

4

The name of the annual fest is Samagam organized by the students it is usually held in the month of November. Sports day is observed every year in the month of January where events like drill and other races are conducted. There are many societies whose day to day affairs are conducted by students namely history society, literary society, western cultural society, eastern cultural society, dramatic society, environment society, debating society, NSS and many more. Debates, quizzes environmental activities and social service endeavours are regularly conducted by these societies. The library is open shelf and accessible for students. JSTOR and other resources can be accessed through computers in the library. Many enrichment courses are also available like French, Spanish, Calligraphy, guitar, graphic design and many more to diversify the skills of students.

I want to know bengali literature and all type of poems and proses that's why I choose B.a. in bengali literature. According to me, my course helps me in doing Masters in Bengali. From the point of view of improvements, I feel that digital classes can be conducted in the class by leaving the theory classes. Mere collage The exam level is basically hard and exams are conducted twice a year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have always wanted to persue English as a career. I love studying English but not a big fan of the new curriculum by NEP that includes a lot pf irrelevant papers. The semesters are not consistent. Odd semesters usually have a lot of time like 6-8 months but even semesters barely consist of 2-3 months.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We were held a class for upto 1hrs, thus we had 4 class a day. Sometimes it is boaring sometimes it becomes striking, it depends on the mood. It is to say little knowledge is a dangerous thing, if you don't read you cannot pass the semester examination. Although it will provide you a second chance. But with change of syllabus the exam pattern also change. You need to attain a total percentage of 75(%) to maintain you honours subject otherwise you would be regarded as programme course student.
