Remarks

I am truly privileged to be a part of this institution. It is probably one of the best institutions in Kolkata. The teaching quality is superb and the fees charged by the college is within affordable limits.

Course Curriculum Overview

Our college provides a 3 year course in B.Sc Botany honours. It is a well curated course with special emphasis on molecular biology, plant resource utilization, biodiversity, mycology and phytopathology. However my favorite part in the syllabus is genetics and genomi.

Placement Experience

TCS and WIPRO recruits many students from our college every year. Besides, we also have a career counseling cell in our college which provides immense guidance to us in order to prepare ourselves for any job.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I am charged a sum of Rs. 10,030 annually as my course fee. This is inclusive of the tuition fee, laboratory charges and maintainance fee. However, the remuneration charged for other B.A or B.Com courses is much lesser than this. In addition, there's also a relaxation in fees for the SC, ST and OBC candidates.

Campus Life

Our college takes an active part in extracurricular activities. We are highly encouraged to take part in the different inter college and sports meet tournaments. Besides, the Student Council also organizes many workshops and seminars with the prior approval of the college head.

Admission

The minimum eligibility required to apply in this college is to secure a pass marks in the HS or equivalent examination with 50% marks in aggregate and 45% in the subject of specialization. Initially, I filled up an online application form and later I had my name in the cut off list published by the college.

Faculty

Our faculty members are adequately qualified and well experienced. They are very helpful and accommodating. The quality of education offered by them is superb. They are not at all biased, rather they truly encourage us to perform different research activities.

Actually Some of the Local Companies & Private banks Offer placements which are averagely worth 250000/-. Some of the Students appear for it , but the Number is Very less. Actually In Present Circumstances , Most students wants a stable Government, Especially Central Gov job . So they Prepare for exams like SSC , SBI , IBPS, LIC , RRB etc.

Placement Experience:

College does provide internship opportunities both through the placement cell as well as department faculty. Semester 5 and Semester 7 students are eligible for placements. Average package is about 5.5 lakh per annum for microbiology course. Although placement percentage is on the lower side majority of students go for higher studies. Many prepare for exams like GATE, IIT JAM, etc.

Placement Experience:

college placements are good in this college with a number of good financial and consultancy firms coming in with new gen companies as well in the service and sales industry. moreoever getting a good placement in a top financial or consultancy placement requires a POR in a good society as a criteria, its not really required but adds to your chances of getting it. moreover you require to participate in a number of case study competitions for the same as well. my plans after graduation is probably working for a year or two after which i plan on doing my MBA. around 50-60% who apply get a placement.

My experience at St. Xavier's

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course theory helps us gain a solid understanding of the subject matter. Film studies and Mass Communication theory classes has laid down the foundation of the subject- from what is a shot and the kinds of shots and angles, to the beginning of radio in India and essays by CS Pierce and John Berger. The course also includes practical classes in the sound labs, editing labs and we will learn to use a camera, as one of the things we will have to do in this course is make films of our own.
