Life @ UVCE

The college management is well organised and so is the placement office as wwell. The lecturers across all departments are very co operative and helful and ensure that students get the right support.

CET Rank 6614. Mechanical Engineering at UVCE is the best engineering course one can ask for studing in Bengaluru. I was firm on opting for Mechanical Engineering and I did not have to look beyond UVCE for the course.

The course curriculum is excellent and well structured. The electives are quite flexible and the student is free to choose from a wide variety of options available, with lecturers and professors available for each of them.

I did my college internship outside college, in a public sector company where my dad was working. So I am not really aware of the internships offered within college and hence eligible to answer to this question.

UVCE is best known for its placements. It has got a brilliant track record for placing most of it's students in the final years. Also, the college offers multiple opportunities for students to get placed in Core companies. For a Mechanical Engineer, companies like GE, BMW, Volvo and Toyota are dream companies. That apart there are multiple mass recruitment companies that come to hire students from across all streams.

There is a yearly intra college Technical fest called FIESTA which is celebrated with pomp and grandeur. Apart from that there is also a yearly Mechanical fest called Milagro.

The Fee Structure is affordable to almost all students. Since it is a government college, the fee structure is the least among all the colleges. Back in 2007-11 time frame, the fee was about Rs 17000/year on an average.

I am not aware of any such scholarships/loan offerings, since I have not availed any of these. So I do not know about these schemes as such.

The campus life is very relaxed. And the lecturers are also liberal on the attendance front. So the students get ample time to engage themselves in extra curricular activities like Technical presentations, debates, theatre arts. It is upto the interest of the student who would want to get involved with activities apart from his academics.

The hostel rooms are not maintained that well. The hostel infrastructure and mess food could improve a lot. So staying in UVCE hostel is not advised.

There is a very big alumni network of UVCE. This college is the oldest in Bengaluru and hence boasts of a wide and distinguished alumni network. Also the college is celebrating it's centenary in 2017, which is expected to be a one of a kind affair in Bengaluru!

The Exam structure is pretty well organised giving ample time for students to prepare for the exams and also follow up with the lecturers if required.

Almost all members of the faculty are either Ph.D graduates or post graduates at least. Needless to say, all of them are well qualified as Professors and Asst Professors. The coaching offered is best in class.
