GATE: Graduate Aptitude Test in EngineeringScore: 98.9 percentileI wished to pursue neuroscience specialization for my masters and only IIT-M offered that. Hence, I opted for IIT-M.

The course was a research based and hence the dominant section involved getting associated with the Professor of one's interest and choose a topic to pursue research. Additionally, one is required to select coursework as per the requirements of research with some credit points of 15. The degree is awarded based on the thesis produced as a result of the research work

The companies which come are mostly associated with the faculties at IIT-M and hence were very specific to the research topic. In addition due to an incubated research park within the IIT, there is lot of exposure from companies such as TCS, etc. The stipend offered ranges from 8000-15000 for a undergraduate student, however it certainly depends on the student himself.

Good placement opportunities however very competitive. Almost all were placed atleast from my batch. Some examples:Adobe: 17 lakh paCodenation: 24 lakh paMicrosoft: 21-23 lakh pa (incentives included)Other companies such as Amazon, Ola, etc also visited however I am not aware of the package information.

Cultural fest: "Saarang" with celebrities such as Vishal and Hekhar, Shankar Mhadevan, Mohit Chauhan being a part of it along with several bands and Sunburn EDM.Technical fest: "Shastra" is also pretty huge with three days full of technical events such as sir shows, robotics, research extempo, presentation, etc.

Feasible. My academic fees was 8000 rupees per semester and the hostel fee was 16000 rupees per semester including the mess fees. This excluded the vacation hostel fee ( both summer and winter).

There are lots of good merit based scholarship for postgraduate students atleast funded by MHRD or CSIR.

Gender ratio is slightly dis balanced having 4 boys for every 1 girl, approximately. Other than that campus life is awesome in every respect. There are events organised for every religious festival with all students irrespective of creed color, caste participating.

The hostel rooms are all single however the ambience is always amiable. The fees structure as I mentioned in A.8 is 16000 rupees per semester including the mess fees.

Dint have much interactions with Alumini, although there is a separate website for alumini to keep track and stay in touch with the senior students. The Alumini seem to be very generous in their efforts to stay linked and connected.

Exams are hectic enough just to keep us studying most of the time but very well planed and organized with decent intervals so that we can recuperate from the hardwork.

Excellent faculty and A level standards both of coursework as well as the research facilities. The Professors are all research oriented and fully enthusiastic which makes a student even more motivated to excel in the field.
