Course Curriculum Overview
The M.Sc Physics course is a 2-year course in which we study a few sub-streams of Physics. In Diamond Harbour, we have a few specialized papers like Electronics, Condensed Matter Physics and Atomic Physics.
Placement Experience
Though not many companies come over to recruit us, we have a cluster of internships available outside college which we may take up if we want to. However, I decided to go for NET and college has coaching options for that.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible and most people don't require monetary help to pay it. We are supposed to pay Rs 6550 each year for two years. A Rs 13,000 fee for two years of post-graduation is cheap enough!
Campus Life
We have quite a few indoor and outdoor games facilties! Indoor we have TT and carrom. Outdoor we have volleyball and football. We have students from a number of states round the country and all are quite happy to mingle!
Hostel Facilities
I did opt for the hostel and there is nothing more I could have dreamed of! The rooms are hygienic, there is clean drinking water, computers and free wifi. We also get subsidized food from the canteen, which is tasty too!
Admission
I have always had an interest in Condensed Matter Physics and Diamond Harbour Women's College had a very good research paper on it. I had to apply online with my B.Sc Physics CGPA and then I waited for the merit list, in which I found my name.
Faculty
The faculty all have doctorates and specialised fields of research in the college. For the final semester research paper, students can choose their own subjects and teachers are assigned. I had Dr Abu Jahid Akhtar for Condensed Matter Physics.
