Course Curriculum Overview
It is a 2 year course and the exams are conducted on a semester basis. We have a plethora of research papers which which we can choose to our tastes. The options are Victorian Studies, Dalit Studies and 19th Century Bengal.
Placement Experience
Placements options are not much in the college but you may partake of internships from outside and the college cooperates as much as they can. They also arrange workshops so that we can get the best of industry knowledge required.
College Events
Our college tries to make college life both educative and fun for us. In my last year of post-graduation, the English department arranged a seminar on Emily Bronte in collaboration with JU which had papers coming in from all over the country.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is quite feasible! In the M.A course, we have to pay Rs 6550 annually. Thus in two years the total fee comes to Rs 13100. However, college and government give out other scholarships which we can avail of.
Campus Life
The extracurricular activities are plentiful in Diamond Harbour Women's College. We have table tennis, badminton, volleyball, football and carrom facilities. We are also allowed to take part in inter-college events.
Admission
I have always been an English aficionado and also did my Bachelors in the subject. I wanted to pursue my M.A at a college close to home and Diamond Harbour was the best option! We just had to apply with our B.A marks.
Faculty
Our faculty is divided on the basis of research interest. They are all qualified with Ph.Ds to their names. I had Victorian Studies as my paper, which was taught by our HOD Dr Oindrila Ghosh, who is a delight to learn from.
