Remarks

College management could modernize and place more focus on placements. Most of the time students are only working hard to bring in companies for placement and receive no help from college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum was good although in first year lots of irrelevant subjects are taught. Learning little mechanics is not harmful but having two mechanical subjects and two workshops for mechanical is irrelevant for computer engineering students. I think working honestly through labs and assignments helped in my professional development.

Placement Experience

4

Placement of the college is good. As it is 3rd ranking in Computer Science in Delhi and better for other tracks. Many students have been consistently part of Google Summer Of Code every year. In my track I would say almost 90% of the class was placed. There is a mix of companies, companies like microsoft also come and TCS also come.

College Events

3

There were few coding events held. As well as robotics workshop, ethical hacking workshop, etc. There were 2 major fests held annually which involved cultural as well as technical events. Many were mostly attended by other students of universities or colleges in delhi.

Fee Structure And Facilities

fee structure is very cheap compared to others. That time it was around 10,500 INR annually. Everything was listed in fee structure. This fee was tuition as well as lab charges. Mostly submissions had to be done with demand draft in indian bank near faculty and university.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, scholarship was there for economically weak background people. I think average was the complete tuition fee exemption.

Campus Life

4

female:male ratio was 1:4. Student/Dorm parties were pretty good and in girls hostel they were twice a year. Ethnicity being in India is always diverse. I think there was no one openly part from LGBT group. Religion, was 50 - 50 for both Hindus and Muslims here unlike other universities. Politcially, many supported AAP during elections with few on BJP side.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes, we had 3 people in one room. Hostel is scarce because mostly rooms would get full in case of girls hostel especially. Hostels were very secure and safe. Average I think along with mess food and room rent it was 24,000 INR.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is very strong with every major company having an employee from Jamia Millia Islamia. Both national and international. The alumni is very helpful to guide as well as for reference.

Admission

In 2012 there was a separate entrance exam for JMI, afterwards they switched to acceptance from JEE Mains. My test center was Delhi and there were not as many centers all over India then. The exam was held in June,2012.There is a minority reservation as well in Jamia. While filling out forms you have to list the course tracks in order of your interest. You can only to switch to different track after first year if that course was higher in your choice than your current one.Not to a lower one. You can switch because some take admission and then drop out or witch to different colleges. I chose this institution because it is a center university with good rank. It is situated in Delhi and because of that you have many opportunities there.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty was a mix of good and bad. Some were very brilliant and few were not so good and had no idea about the topics and they mostly taught irrelevant subjects. Average age might be around 40 years. This was related to Computer Engineering, the faculty was new but better at devising exams and assignments than civil, mechanical, etc. the older faculties.

Placement Experience:

The annual placements at NIT Delhi are consistently getting better year by year where the top branches such as CSE, ECE, and IT are leading the way with their strong placement rates. Many students get hired at very attractive salaries by well-established companies like TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Microsoft, and Amazon. For example, the CTC of the best offers have reached as high as ?15–20 LPA in some instances. The Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical branches also contribute to the university’s overall placement record to some extent. Those students usually boost the available opportunities for themselves by taking up internships and off-campus offers. Moreover, the students who fail to get a job on the campus can still benefit out of the college atmosphere where the strong basics of coding, projects, and practical skills are taught which makes the students quite employable at startups, off-campus, or even when going for higher studies like M.Tech/GATE/abroad. To sum up, NIT Delhi is a very solid foundation for the students whether they want to have a career or continue with their education.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is relevant and comprehensive, with practical modules and industry-focused content that influenced my choice. It effectively bridges academic knowledge with real-world applications. However, adding more case studies and interdisciplinary approaches could enhance learning. Exams are well-timed but could better assess critical thinking. Teaching methods would benefit from integrating more interactive and hands-on sessions.
