St Stephen's College, Bachelor of Science

Remarks

Actually a very good, elite college which even today enjoys a reputation of good faculty, discipline, smart pass out students and good management.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum was average as this was as prescribed by the government body. Although there were no industry visits, the practicals & lab experiments were relatively good. Since this was only a basic course, specialization could only be achieved by pursuing a higher Master's degree.

Placement Experience

4.5

In general The St. Stephen's College has a high rate of placement. The students, unless they wish to continue further higher studies, get well placed. I, personally did not avail any internship or placement in my course since I opted to pursue Engineering degree to get a proper professional degree in hand.

College Events

5

Technical events were mainly inter / intra college events, but the cultural / management event was an annual fest which all the colleges in the campus had on various dates. During this time there used to be cultural events, music festival, exhibitions, sports events etc. I did participate in the music festival and the sports event.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee was very transparent to be paid by bank cheque at that time since other online or other options were not prevalent. And there were definitely no additional fees or charges that had to be paid to secure an admission. The fees amount was higher than any other college on the campus, primarily because of the brand name, selected high-grade students, and good facilities offered by the college.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

Scholarships were limited and offered only to students who excelled in academics or sports. The scholarships were more available for higher study students rather than basic corse students like us.

Campus Life

4

The on campus scene at the college was very very cordial and pleasant. The gender ratio was also well balanced and the genders mingled well and studied and played well amongst each other. Their were quite a few societies, academic, cultural, sports, vocational etc. and were a good platform fro the students to mingle and learn.

Hostel Facilities

4

No, I was a daily commuter to the college. But I had friends in the college hostel. Boys and girls had separate and distanced hostels. They were on a sharing basis, quite basic, but clean, tidy, and airy.

Alumni/Alumna

I am not very familiar with the Alumni network or senior students since I went for my further studies and later into work, getting little or no time to revisit the college of its old friends and professors.

Admission

Being one of the top ranked College in Delhi, I applied fro this college & being a science student, opted for this course. It ha d the requisite cut-off percentage required to come in the first list of interviews, and the principal of the college was very impressed with my interview and gave me admission.

Faculty

4.5

The lecturers were quite friendly and co-operative. They were reasonably experienced. Some of the the lecturers were Phd. holders and well experienced. The were quite well versed in their subjects like our Math professor was very smart and intelligent and his delivery to the students was very effective.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is actually great as it helps us to prepare for the competitive exams like the cell biology, genomics and various other topics. Also, the teachers are very friendly and they teach through E-boards which is very helpful as it is easy to use. The type of exams is the semester type in every 4 months exams are conducted and the difficulty level is medium to hard.

Placement Experience:

The students become eligible in the last year for placement and there is dedicated placement cell called 'pinnacle' but it offers good placement in commerce courses but very less number in science courses and definitely neglible in chemistry as students generally tend to opt for a master's degree for better opportunities in industries as well as exams such as GATE. The package ranges from 3 to 4 lakhs. There are no specifics for the company names as the data is not continuous. My plan is also to opto for a master's degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Relevance and comprehensiveness by my course I want to become a scientist. And I have more opportunities in government examinations I chose this program because of my favorite subject. There are practical exams in this program also. They are using very effective methods by teaching faculty that was helped in understanding the material for the student. The examination conducted was average and more size, than the examination paper conducted on the given syllabus there I experienced it very well so I think this is a very beautiful journey for me.

The placements were not as great but the placement cell was working hard enough to get good placements for everyone. Placements average at about 4LPA. The vetting and everything was seamless and placement cell members were really helpful.

Placement Experience:

The placement cell of our college is very efficient as it widens opportunities for students and exposes them to various companies. The majority of students were pursued masters in various fields. Some of them were successfully selected in job categories like banking etc. The science students usually don't get placement benefits in the college. So the students have to be dependent on other sources for internships and placements. Many companies like Genpact and other visited Inside the college. Same was the case for previous batches too.

Placement Experience:

The college has an active Placement Cell. It organizes workshops, seminars and provides placement and internships in a wide range of profiles. Major placement opportunities are available to BCom students. Final semester students become eligible for campus placements. As per the stats of 2019-20, the highest package offered was 9 LPA and average package was 4.3 LPA. Major job profiles were finance, audit, sales, marketing, consultancy, HR operations etc. and 96+ companies were associated including KPMG, EY, PWC, Deloitte, Decathlon, UrbanClap, Genpact, Chegg, Wipro, FIS, Teach for India, Josh Talks, Inshorts, Careers 360 and many more. However the percentage of students getting placed is not much greater, because majority of students don't sit in campus placements and go for masters. Generally, BCom graduates are offered with better profiles in big companies (KPMG, EY, Deloitte etc) I am planning to go for MCA after my graduation .

3rd-year students are eligible for placements. The highest package of 2020 was of Mc Kinsey with 8lpa and average package of SGTB Khalsa 3 to 4 LPA. The students are mostly places from commerce courses as the big fours come for them. The percentage of students getting placed is 60% and I feel, I might opt for a job after a degree which is suitable as everything is work from home for now.
