Remarks

Good remarks- better infrastructure, placements, well-equipped labs. Bad remarks- less research-oriented, fees could have been less.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Yes, the curriculum is designed in a way to make it easy for the students to secure good placements as well as research-driven. A number of students apply for a campus Thesis as well. The exam structure is as follows:- Two major components: Midsem and Comprehensive examination and other class evaluations.

Placement Experience

4.5

Overall placement scenario of the college is good. Although most of the students prefer to finance and IT roles, the core branches take a hit during placement and not a lot of core companies come for placements. Companies such as Google, Uber, Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, and other IT companies, some core companies like Schlumberger, Reliance, L&T constructions visit for the recruitment drive. The steps followed are resume shortlisting, online technical round, and interview round. The campus also helps to prepare students for the placement drives, holding webinars and mocks for different kinds of roles students are interested in. By the end of the drive, around 90% of students get placed.

College Events

5

We have a technical fest-ATMOS, sports fest-ARENA, cultural fest- PEARL. Each of these fests is attended by a large number of students from various colleges across India. Each of these fests has a large footfall. ATMOS is the technical fest held every year in October. It involves various technical competitions such as robowars, algomaniacs, quadcopter, various talks by technical professions. ARENA is the sports fest held every year in January. There are various competitions held both indoor as well as outdoor sports like cricket, volleyball, badminton, football, weightlifting, powerlifting, chess, carrom, etc. PEARL is the annual cultural fest of our college held in the month of March. Various competitions like poetry slam, fashion shows, talks by celebrities, dramas, theatre acts, singing, dancing as well as music band competitions are held. A number of pro shows are also held in each of these fests.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is quite expensive since it is a private college. Online modes of payment are available such as, Paytm, net banking hence it is easy to pay. During the admission process, students can opt for a student loan. The fee demands are mailed to students before the start of the semester to maintain the transperancy.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college offers scholarships on the basis of SGPA and the income of the family. The income cutoff is 8 lac to avail of this scholarship. The scholarship percentage varies from 25-70% depending on the SGPA of the semester.

Campus Life

5

The gender ratio is still not good. It is around 1:8. There are a lot of extracurricular activities catering to the interests and hobbies of various students. Dance club, music club, robotic club, coding club, etc. Labs are well maintained and equipped. Technical and sports competitions are held every year, specific fests dedicated for each of them.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Yes. For the first year, the rooms are sharing after which each student is allotted a single room. The rooms are clean and well maintained. In case of complaints, they are dealt with quickly without much delay.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors are approachable and quite helpful. I interacted with few seniors and they were very helpful and guided me very well as to how to prepare for placements, make decisions.

Admission

Through BITSAT. I am interested in mathematics and algorithms which made me opt for this course. The admission process is simple. We submit the fees followed by other formalities. The admission process often involves a simple, short interview. As the BITS university has 3 campuses, we have the option to either lock the campuses after 3rd round of counseling or keep them in the float option. The documents asked from us were BITSAT admit card, 10th and 12th marksheets, Transfer and migration certificate, and BITSAT scorecard, along with the allotment letter. The admission procedure is followed by an orientation program by the respected Dean of the college addressing all our FAQs.

Faculty

4.5

The professors are well qualified in their field and are well versed in their subjects. Most of them hold Phd degrees from eminent universities. They are easily approachable as well. They even hold doubt sessions in their respective chambers. The class sessions also involve lab visits as well as a field trip to get a proper insight into the working of the industry. The number of hours dedicated to a course is 50 hrs per semester which includes both the classes and tutorial hours.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is quite relevant and comprehensive offering a balanced combination of theoretical and practical knowledge for learning. This curriculum helps in developing both conceptual clarity and analytical skills and prepare students well for real - world challenges as well as higher academic pursuits. This curriculum is strong and valuable. The frequency and timing of exams are generally reasonable though at times.

It is an amazing course. Helps me understand the concept very deeply the curriculum is also really good. Every teacher has their own way of teaching some can improve but it is fine we can try to study and understand by ourselves a bit. When it comes to internals its of 20 marks we have as such three of them for one sem and avg of 10 is taken from it internals are of 1hr and externals will be about 2hrs 30mins and labs of 3hrs

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum of the biotechnology course includes all the relevant topics needed to gain information about the subject. The curriculum also includes currently developing topics of interest which may gain popularity in the future (like bioinformatics). It thoroughly prepares us for real world applications as we gain exposure to various fields of interest in the subject and get a hands-on training in the subject. Ab area i would like to suggest for improvement is to alot equal no. Of periods to different papers in the subject as each topic has its own value in the academic and career purpose. The internals are conducted every month within a duration of 1 hour for each paper. there are currently 4 internals for our batch, each of 10 marks. The externals or the end semester exams are conducted at the end of the semester approx 6 months, which are of 50 marks. 10 marks is alloted for attendance, bringing the total to 1000.
