Remarks

I Had an interest in Mechanical engineering so I pre decided that i will go for mechanical engineering so I started searching for college that matches with my rank and my preferred stream and after searching a lot I decides to choose IIT Gandhinagar as first preference and IIT Ropar as my second preference but i couldn't got IIT Gandhinagar and managed to get Mechanical Engineering from IIT Ropar

Course Curriculum Overview

Course Structure was quite good and courses they offer are quite relevant to mechanical engineering and they provide lots of courses for us to choose the course which you want. Academics was quite good bit i must say that some faculties are brilliant but the way they teach is not good. They are good in research but not in teaching and some are very excellent in both teaching and research

Class Size: 40Course Fees: INR 500000 per year

Internships Opportunities

I have done an Internship in my second year from IIT Bombay. I did not get any stipend and i worked on granular materials

Placement Experience

The number of companies visiting for campus recruitment in Mechanical engineering was not that much. Ckre companies are very few like Maruti and Isro and non core companies are too many. They appointed us as Graduate engineer trainee amd in my batch out of 40 students around 23 have places and around 10 students have withdrawn from placement as they wanted to go for preparation or doing MBA or foreign for higher studies. Placement department should more focus on core companies. Alumni network is not that good enough as we our college started only 11 years ago was it will improve in further years

College Events

We have cultural festival name ZEITGEIST and it is awesome. Competition in it is quite good and number of colleges participate in it and many stars have come in our college in such these festival. We have a Tech Fest name ADVITIYA and it usually for 2-3 days and participation in it is quite good always We have sports fest name AAROHAN and for me i like it the most as a sportsperson. Croud is too much

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship are provided for top rankers in jee advance in their respective branch if their family income is less than what is set by college and SC and ST students do not need to pay fee irrespective of rank and family income.

Campus Life

As far as campus infrastructure i thought that my college has best infrastructure all over the india. Sports ground are well maintained and made in such a way that national level games can be played in it. Library is awesome. Labd equipment and machinery are very costly and best as i know in a country

Hostel Facilities

In My college hostel was compulsory and for First and second year two students share one room and for third and final year on student in a single room and hostel rooms are best as they are newly made. Very neat amd clean and proper hygiene maintenance. We don't have seperate hostel fee but we have both hostel+ mess fee which usually coat around 13 thousands in a semester

Hostel Fee: INR 25000 per year

supportive campus environment with the comfortable in the classess
faculty most faculty members are very much supportive and they guide the students in the right way only
events are there in the campus provided by the campus.

limited practical exposure is provided by the campus and also there should be more hand on international events

placements at my college are very very good, as everybody gets the chance to sit for the placements at the same level. we get the placement oportunities at the 6th semster also. in my brancg it is very good

A Vibrant Campus with good learning and great opportunities

Likes

good infrastructure , large libraries and practical labs
helpful and large opportunities in campus

Dislikes

class size can be large , it helps every child to interact
academic work is quite high , the schedule may feel hectic especially during examination

The curriculum is relevant and covers core cse subjects like programing DSA and DBMS . it provides good fundamental for placements and further studies , more practical projects and industry based teaching would improve it .

75 percent attendance policy for classes
Very high fees compared to other colleges

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

There are 1 AC Lecture complex()LT with almost a seating capacity of 100-120 students, with smart screens and projector.
NITJ has well maintained 4 Girls hostel and 4-5 boys hostels with proper cleanliness and hostel staff.
They are 7 cafeterias in the Campus, including 3 Nescafe outlets,1 dominos and 3 regular canteens that serve food late night.

Dislikes

Wifi and connection issues in the hostels
Slow response to emails and late approval to applications
The ICE department faculty is quite strict. Tough grading system and administration.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

I like the most about the college the placement criteria and the way built your confidence
Also the hostel is very good and provide food 4 times
The campus explorer is also very nice according to me

Faculty is not soo well had a lit bit inconvenience
Hostel mess food is not good at some time
Placement is decent and average as like other collage

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Good infrastructure, campus and faculty. Have to improve placements and industrial visits.

Likes

The campus is very green and clean. Infrastructure is good and one can feel fresh air here in campus
The faculty is excellent, almost all of the professors and assistant professors have a degree from renowned institutes. So they know their subject and field very well.
Hostels are good and affordable. Although the hostels itself are old, services are good and you get a nice room for the price/rent

Dislikes

The crowd isn't good. Always demotivated to do anything productive regarding studies. Some people are just here for time-pass
Very less site and outdoor visits. For practical experience, they should conduct industrial visits, but that happens rarely
Placements are really Dry and there is decline in company visits for placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

The best out of best about iit ropar

I applied to iit gandhinagar electrical engineering and got rejected as my jee advanced rank was not as par as required to take the course.the admission process of our college is based on an examination called jee advanced and if u get a good rank and pass that examination u can enter our college.i also applied for iit hyd,iit jodhpur etc in which I have got an admission in another branch as I said earlier as I like the electrical engineering branch I joined iit ropar .or college might be worst in sports in comparison to other iits but they are always better than other iits in reasearch orientation side...Read More
