Remarks
The biotechnology course in the college is considered one of the best in India, and according to college rankings, the college is also the third best place in the country to pursue a BSc degree from. Besides, being a student in this college is considered respectful by a vast majority of people.
Course Curriculum Overview
Our curriculum is updated every 2-3 years, and for biotechnology it's a very suitable syllabus, even covering portions taught exclusively for PG in many colleges. We get 1-2 industrial visits each academic year, depending on whether the syllabus demands it. Some of our faculties are very well qualified in the subjects they teach, the list should include Dr. Biljo V. Joseph and Dr. Sayantan D.
Placement Experience
Placement is usually low for our course, since most people opt for higher studies. Some change stream, pursuing MBA etc. And some pursue Masters in any of the three subjects in our course.
College Events
We have multiple cultural and sports fest (intra and inter college) held throughout the academic year, that see excellent participation. The campus is always vibrant. You can always see a group singing, a street play going on, or the culinary students displaying their dishes almost every day of the year. The cultural teams are more than family and practice throughout the year after college, that makes the campus a very pleasant place to be in even after the classes are over at 4pm.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college gives a fee concession for students with good marks, for the third year of their bachelor's program. Students can also apply for fee concession if their parents yearly income is less than the mentioned amount.
Campus Life
We have two libraries, access to international scientific journals, ample number of computers, and even a book archive, that has rare copies of books and journals that aren't available for buying anymore. The campus is one of the greenest places in urban Bangalore, with hundreds of trees, and many bird varieties audible and visible at all times. The wifi is accessible almost everywhere in the campus, but it has access restrictions to social media, game, pornographic sites etc.
Hostel Facilities
Numerous PGs and Hostels have grown around the college, since the on-campus hostels are only for PG and international students. So a place to live is not very difficult to find. Shops are available for almost all daily needs. I've been staying in a convent hostel for the past two years, and it's very peaceful and clean. The PGs tend to depend more on the students to maintain their cleanliness. The average rent ranges from ?5,000-?15,000 per month.
