Scenic beauty

College management was pathetic. Barring 1 or 2 professors nobody was really made of Steel. It was very difficult to get things done there. Our director is kind of a Dictator appointed by Govt of India.

I got AIR 4609 and I wanted a good Branch so I opted accordingly as with my rank I would not have gotten into a top IIT with a good Branch.

Course Curriculum was messed up when I graduated. Things were stabilizing but electives are very nice. In my graduation I studied electives ranging from history to psychology and society.

During my time we did not get much offers because of Economic Slowdown. One company offered me an internship(Polaris Financial Technology) but when I went there, they directly refused it. So I had to work for some relatives and they were a certified company.

I graduated in 2014 and their was an economic slump in India. During that time very company visited our campus for Mech recruitment. Altair offered 7LPA, Trident 9LPA and LnT offered 3 LPA. Recently I got to know a lot of companies visited like M&M, Tata etc. for mech.

We have our own cultural, Technical and Sports Festival. They occur annually and we see healthy participation in them. Mostly colleges around Himachal, Delhi and Punjab visit our festivals.

It is probably the cheapest. My Tutition fee was 50k but now Govt of India has increased it to 90K per year. Aso you have to add other expenses which add upto 40k a year.

Yes, for general Students there is a scholarship which waives off your fee and gives you a monthly stipend of 1200 Rs. But that scholarship is difficult to avail as only top 4 students of each branch can avail it. I was eligible but my parents income was more than the income threshold require to avail the benefit. For SC/ST students lot of benefits are there and I don't know them specifically.

Gender ratios were pretty bad. We had 108 boys and 8 girls in entire batch and in Mech there were no girls. Hostel parties were quite often but between small groups. Our college has a lot of cultural socities and we have good workshops though they are not as good as Old IITs. Our campus was very tolerant, in my 4 years we never saw any conflict related to things you have mentioned.

Mess Food is typical mess food nothing exceptional but North Indian person might not feel that bad but for South Indians there was a problem. Hostels were good and we stayed in triple sharing throughout our 4 years. Internet was quite bad though.

Mine was the second passing batch of our college so all the students from my batch had cordial relationship with the seniors. We hardly had any Alumni base at that time so I can't comment on that but my juniors do contact me for any guidance and help.

We have 2 Mid sem exams and one End Semester exam. We had to study during that time to pass. We do get a lot of assignments and they carry a lot of weightage for marks.

Faculty for branches except Mech was good. Luckily we got some visiting faculty from other IITs but that was not enough. Only 1 or 2 permanent faculty in Mech is good.
