Remarks

If you want to continue with your job and still pursue Graduation or Masters, this is the best place in India.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

They have only an annual exam which they call the term end examination. Course is covered in weekly classes which are held every Sunday. The exams are as fair as any other university. Also the faculty are experienced which in return helps tha students.

Placement Experience

1.5

Since I am in the first year I have not yet recieved any internship offer but in other courses like BCA or MCA Ignou offers internship. Also there is not much placement scope in Ignou as this is an Open University.

College Events

0.5

Ignou is an open university. Hence there is no cultural fests or fresher's parties organised by the College. The students get Holiday if the classes are scheduled on a National Holiday and that is pretty much everything in terms of organising any cultural event.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees are very low depending on the programme. In my course I am paying an annual fees of Rs. 2400 excluding examination forms which costs about Rs. 150/- per subject every year. And while seeking admission from their website, Ignou provides full transparency in fee breakdown.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes Ignou offers Scholarship opportunities to both Bachelor degree and Master degree students. But since I did not opt for a scholarship I do not have the details.

Campus Life

2.5

IGNOU is an open university where people of all age come and take classes. There are equal number of boys compared to girls in most of the courses. However there are no Sports, Robotics or Debate competitions held over here. Laboratories are present in some of the campuses though.

Hostel Facilities

0.5

No. Since Ignou is an Open University there is no Hostel facility as people can study or take classes from their home. But in case of a migrant student, they can take a PG near their respective Study center campus.

Alumni/Alumna

In IGNOU you cant befriend somebody as there are very less chances of seeing a senior who has passed his course as this is an Open University.

Admission

I got admission through online form. Admission process is simple. Just log into their website, choose your preferred programme and pay upfront using online payment. Admission starts at every year in the month of April for July session and October for January session.

Faculty

4

Faculty is excellent as all the teachers have huge experience. They are very friendly and knowledgeable at the same time. The average age of Faculty is approximately 45 years. Most of them have been teaching for over ten years. They help the students with not only the sylabus but also with the projects and assignment works.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There are several prospects, especially peer-to-peer counseling, where you get a mentor. We call it mentor mentee program. So, there will be groups of students, and each group will have a mentor who helps you whenever you face any issues whether in real life or in your academic journey. They’re always there for you. There are also remedial classes, and extracurricular activities are included in the curriculum. You even get the freedom to choose what you want to pursue creatively, like joining poetry clubs and similar groups. Right now, I’m at Banaras University, and the curriculum here is really good. We have sessions on public speaking, how to conduct interviews, and many other practical skills. These are highly commendable because they help you in professional situations like the one I’m in now. However, I would say that teachers could be a bit more active with electronic tools like using PPT presentations or audio-visual methods instead long lecture sessions. As for exams, I wouldn’t say they’re too difficult because there are many weekly assessments and sessionals, which actually help you evaluate yourself better.
