Remarks
Management was not co-operative at all. They used to provide low salaries to experienced teachers and hence we used to land in potholes. They neither much bothered about placements.
Course Curriculum Overview
I opted for Bachelor of Technology in Civil engineering. This course curriculum is of four years comprising of eight semesters. Each year two semesters. Basically first sem is all about that one have studied in plus two course. Second sem onwards core subjects join in. Third sem onwards one has to be very seriously regarding his or her studies, otherwise you will land yourself in great trouble. No, the curriculum was not groomed to provide industry specific knowledge. It was very much methodical. Yes, industrial visits were arranged for us, but none of the teachers guided as properly.
Placement Experience
Placements in my college is too poor in my point of view. Though some companies came for recruitment, I did not appear for campusing, since they were not from my subjects. Hardly 30% of the total strength gets placed with pay of 1.2-1.5 lacs per annum. My college did not bother at all about preparing the students for placement season.
College Events
There were a quite number of events that were celebrated in my college. Firstly the fresher's welcome, which we used to conduct for our juniors. Secondly, the fest. 'Regeneration'. I will always remember the fest that I beholded in the year 2015. I participated in a drama along with my friends. We had a blast. Lots of food. Biryani, kebabs and more. We also used to organise Tech fest where we used to create some structures which needed lots of design work.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Total admission fee was around 60k including counseling charge. We also had to deposit a caution money amounting to 10k which was refundable. Per semester we had to pay 39k on an average, which was quite low as compare to other WBUT colleges. We also had to deposit ?100 as examination fee for each sem. The fee structure for me was feasible. But, it might be expensive for some others.
Fees and Financial Aid
No. I did not apply for any scholarship or education loan. My college do not offer scholarship opportunities for students.
Campus Life
Regarding campus life, it was too good. The flora and fauna was amazing and soothing to one's sensation. We had lots of greenery surrounding us. Female:Male=2:15 I loved the geotech lab specially because of one of the seniormost and most experienced teacher we had. We used to participate in Tech fest and construct some bridges made of ice cream sticks. We had to design and detail the bridge carefully. We stood second in the bridge-it competition and received a prize money worth ?5k.
Alumni/Alumna
Our seniors were very much supportive and co-operative. They also helped us regarding our academics and also in organising cultural fests.
Admission
I appeared for West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination in the month of April. Results were declared around end of June and my rank was around 10k. I always had keen interest in engineering drawings and construction technology from my childhood. So, I decided to take up civil engineering as my career. I took valuable suggestions from my school seniors about which college to join. Frankly speaking, which college has better infrastructure in civil engineering. One of my seniors suggested for Regent Education and Research Foundation Group of Institutions, which is under Swami Vivekananda Group of Institutions and is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology. I visited my college long before counselling and peeped into the laboratories out there. The machine setups were absolutely amazing. Moreover, faculty was tto good then. That's why I decided to join RERF. Counselling began around first week of June. First round of counselling, I chose RERF as my preferred college. The process lasted for around one month. After the process I took admission and my classes began around mid of August.
Faculty
When I joined my college, there were quite a number of experienced lecturers, who had industry experience. But they were getting paid very very low as compared to their experience. Thus, as time crossed, the resigned from our college and joined something better or pursued higher education. Being a degree student, there were around twenty lecturers in our department with an average age of thirty five. Most of them were Masters in Technology without any industry experience. I admired my soil lab guide the most, who was around in his late 50's, whom I felt the most experienced.
