Remarks

It was a decent campus life we experienced, without much political involvement then. The infrastructure was limited but the experienced faculties made up for it. Placement was an area that needed lots of attention.

Entrance Preview

Kerala Engineering Entrance exmaination, 2007. I got 7000 rank. This college is located in a serene environment away from city, has well qualified faculty and infrastructure.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I did B. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. The syllabus and curriculum were under University of Calicut. 1st year course is common for all streams, had 12 subjects and 4 labs/workshops including mechanical, civil, physics, chemistry. I had elective subjects in 7th and 8th Semester, Advanced DBMS, Mobile Communication Systems.

Internships Opportunities

We did not have internships then, instead mini and main projects, developed internally or in collaboration with some externals. we did the projects in groups and went to various tech fests and presented our work, won many prizes as well-NIT Kozhikkode, CET Thiruvananthapuram etc.

Placement Experience

3

We mostly had pooled campus interviews, My batch had about 50% placement by end of our study, 2011. Many had multiple offers, I had 6 offers from different IT companies. Mainly Infosys, CTS, Accenture, CSS Corp. etc were major recruiters. CTC varied from 3LPA and above.

College Events

4

We had inter college tech fests - GHATECH, IEEE tech fest and other inter college/ intra university tech and cultural events throughout the year. more than 20 colleges used to participate in the tech and cultural fests. cash prizes and other gifts were offered to winners and participants.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is a Govt. College and fees is minimal, it was around 5000 Rs. per year and books, study materials, lodging, boarding etc. were extra. It is very feasible considering private colleges charge in lakhs as fees and hostel charges etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loans were available from SBI/SBT, few friends had availed the facility. Availing loans were not difficult as the amount was small.

Campus Life

3

campus life was very enjoyable. weparticipated in all intra and inter college cultural and tech fests and sports events. girls formed some 40-45% of the total students at that time. IEEE student branch was very active and we conducted and attended many conferences associated with IEEE across Kerala

Hostel Facilities

2

We didnt have college hostels then, we stayed in PGs, had food from small hotels near college. it was relatively cheap and affordable. We had 2 sharing rooms with attached bathrooms which were regularly cleaned.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni networking is still very poor. College was started in 1999 but still not much effort has gone into networking with old alumnus who hold esteemed posts across industries.

Exam Structure

Each semester has 6 subjects and 2 labs/workshops. All subjects have atleast 2 internal exams, and a final university exam. Min. 35 out of 50 in internals and 40 out of 100 in university exams are required for passing a subject.

Faculty

4

Faculties were highly qualified and corrdial with students. Importance was given to practical learning and lots of scope for developing ones personality. They guided us well in Mini and main projects during last 2 years.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
