Remarks

I loved my department. But some of the management decisions made bad impacts on students and they hate the college. Faculties were good. As I already said 4 to 5 professors were so good in teaching and rest of them makes the learning experience a nightmare.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

My department had well experienced faculty and good lab and workshop facility. I was in the first batch of the college. So initially it was very tough in lab works. After that it got better and. The college arranged a good electrical engineering lab for us. To gain knowledge other than curriculum was so tough in our campus. That was a fault from some of the faculties, because they were completely concentrated on curriculum and syllabus. Our college provided campus placements also, but for me there were no core companies participated in the selection. So campus placements were only concentrated on IT companies. Industrial visits were in our syllabus. So we visited several industries, sub stations, generating stations as a part of industrial visit.

Placement Experience

0.5

Placement cell was not so good at my time. There were no internship assistance from college. I think now the situation is better than from my time.

College Events

1.5

Technical fest were celebrated every year which includes intercollegiate competitions. Cultural fests were not acceptable at my time. It started only when I was 3rd year in that college. Management festivals were celebrated every year and the participation was ok. Sports competition was there with good participants.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Mine was a merit seat so the fee was feasible. Also management helps students who are bright in studies but couldn't afford the fee. For merit seats government fee is applicable and additional amount like sports day, tech fest and so on donations were also included in the fee.

Fees and Financial Aid

I opted educational loan. College don't provide any scholarships. So I went for educational loan. I got it from State Bank of Travancore now it is merged with State Bank of India. To avail educational loan I submitted my 10th and 12th certificate to verify my marks and a request were also submitted showing the annual income of my family. After that since I was minor, we started a join account (me & my papa) with min balance 500. After so many request letters finally branch manager approved education loan with 12.5% interest. Last year we settled the whole amount with interest and compound interest.

Campus Life

1.5

My batch had students from all over Kerala. Since I chose EEE female students were very less. In my class there were only 8 girls. Saying about extracurricular activities, my college management don't have much interest in conducting those things. Some of our faculty really tried to maje things happen in our college. We also had a department student association called as EEETA. Our technical fests were the only zone for us to participate in debates, competitions, organizing programs and all. So all the students come up for that day and made the best out of it.

Hostel Facilities

0.5

College was in my home town. So I was a day scholar. College don't have any hostel facilities for students. They have to find room by themselves and college won't be responsible for their stay. So my batchmates and juniors stayed near by hostel rooms and PGs which they found themselves.

Alumni/Alumna

I think we have an alumni network but includes only few of the students. Like me there are several students who are not interested in alumni network of our college.

Admission

Once I visited a science center in my city, which was a one day trip from my school when I was in 4th standard. There the guide showed a dam and it's features and the relevance of engineering in our society. So from that day I wanted to be an Electrical Engineer. But my parents had a different plan (they want me to be a nurse). Somehow I convinced them, that I want to be an engineer. So my Papa told me that, if I qualify in Engineering entrance exam and I get a merit seat (because my family was financially not well) then I can go for engineering. So I applied for the Engineering entrance exam and prepared by myself and qualified the exam. My rank was not so good, so I got merit seat in self financing engineering college. I went there for the interview and got admission.

Faculty

4

Our department HOD was retired from a government engineering college in Kerala and he was so good teaching us. He was the backbone of our department. We called him Iyer sir. He was majored in Electrical machines and he was very good in conveying concepts to each and every students. Under him there were 10 or 12 faculties in electrical department for core papers. Majority of them were freshers and didn't had any experience. But the rest were best experienced and well qualified. All were having post graduation, and few of them were University rank holders. Learning experience was not so good since most of them were struggling to teach us because of less experience. But few of them were amazing and they gave their best for us and they found time to clarify our doubts and they helped us to go beyond the syllabus and learn things.
