Remarks
College times are the best times of one’s life and I can only say that it was a blast I had there. There is a complete balance of life if you get into this college. You’ll get to learn a lot of things(obviously if you’re a hard working person) and have a lot of fun too alongside.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum has been designed according to the major subject chosen by the student. For example if you have chosen electronics as a field, in the first sem there will be basic fundamentals like mathematics, physics and basic electronics etc. Starting from the second semester, core electronics subjects will be taught to you. All professors are PhDs and infrastructure is also good.
Placement Experience
There is a special cell called Training and Placement cell for the purpose of placements. It is lead by a TPO( Training and Placement officer). Some students are interviewed and recruited as training and Placement representatives(TPRs) from every branch. They have to establish communication between the TPO and the students. They are in charge of contacting different companies and for the hospitality of the interviewers when they visit the campus. Some of the companies also visit the campus for hiring interns. The institute arranges special sessions in order to prepare the students for placement interviews. Some of the major companies that visited our campus are: Samsung, Accenture, Adobe, Capgemini, Cognizant, UHG etc.
College Events
There are two major festivals held in the college. One is the cultural fest which takes place in October and the other is the technical fest held in April. The cultural fest includes events like Concerts, DJ nights and various other performances. Students participate in large numbers. The technical fest has seperate teams for all branches. Different branches prepare different projects are per their courses. There is an exhibition where all these projects are displayed. Various technical competitions also take place. There is a DJ night too in this event in order to provide a relaxation to the students who work so hard for this.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees structure of the institution is programmed by the centre government. It is a feasible structure, though. No additional charges are to be paid for getting an admission as admissions are only done through JEE mains result. There is a complete transparency in the fees breakdown.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college used to offer education loan facilities. Not really sure of it. Some of my friends were availing this facility. Scholarship was also given to some students.
Campus Life
Campus life was really good. The campus is one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. Gender ratio is almost 7:3 now. Mostly there is no discrimination on any basis in the college. Political influence is really limited as there is no room for any interference in any admission procedures by any political party or any leaders.
Hostel Facilities
Yes, hostels are the major mode of stay in the college as mostly students are from far away places. The hostels are in a very good condition. Hostel wardens and attendants used to tend to our needs as per demand and subject to availability. Hostel rooms are available for all students. The hostel rooms were in good condition. Sharing rooms are given to students for the first 3 years and singe accomodation rooms to final year students on merit basis.
Alumni/Alumna
The college seniors were really helpful. There is no room for any type or raggings. There were pretty strict rules against such things and voilators were heavily punished. Seniors helped us in getting books, notes and other study materials. They also guided us regarding placement procedures and other career options.
Admission
The admission to NITH is entirely on the basis of JEE Mains. You have to get a good score in order to make it to this college. The merit list is made on basis of this score and then cut off list of ranks is issued by the administration. If your rank lies in the range of the cut off, then you can get a seat.
Faculty
The average no of lectures per subject per semester ranges between 50-60. The course plan is made in advance according to that. The faculty provides a detailed course plan to the students prior to starting with the syllabus. Proper study materials are provided by the teachers in the form of notes, PDFs and e-books. Furthermore, you can contact any faculty in order to get any additional help. The faculty is knowledgeable and helpful. All lecturers are very coordinative. They have clear cut knowledge of their respective subjects.
