Remarks
The college is in the middle of Bangalore city which is really a plus point. Talking about the negatives, the campus is really small. The college is strict about dress code, punctuality and usage of mobile phones.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college is affiliated to VTU and hence follows the VTU mandate for the syllabus. Students from 2017 batch are part of the CBCS scheme with 5-6 theoretical courses and 2-3 practical courses every semester along with one Humanitarian course in the first two years. Every semester consists of 3 mandatory internals for 40 marks and 1 external for 60 marks but attended for 100 marks. A minimum of 85% attendance is required for all the exams.
Placement Experience
Internship is mandatory in the final two years. It can be done by the recommendation of the college or the students themselves. The placement department trains and makes sure that the interested ones are placed in renowned companies like Microsoft, HCL, Amazon, IBM etc. Entrepreneurship and higher studies are also encouraged.
College Events
The college promotes and supports cultural events in the campus. There are lots of culture events organised by the college every year. They also take great pride in promoting their enthusiasm towards nature. "Tatva", a technical fest of the college is conducted every year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees are feasible for those who got admitted thourough entrance tests with less than 2 lakhs as the fees every year. It tends to get expensive for those admitted thourough a management seat with more than 3 lakhs as the fees.
Fees and Financial Aid
College provides scholarship for students with good CGPA every semester. They also provide scholarships for minority students. They also provide help to students taking scholarships given by the government.
Campus Life
The college have good labs for practical and project purposes. Though there are no good grounds for outdoor sports in the campus, there are good places inside for indoor sports. The college has greater female to male ratio both in terms of students and faculties. A little less than fifty percent of the college attendees are students from various parts of the country.
Alumni/Alumna
Though I have not interacted with a lot of seniors and the alumni, but based on my peers' reaction, the seniors are helpful in terms of helping out with what the syllabus is like and various projects undertaken by their juniors.
Admission
I got admission thourough CET which was a fairly flexible process in the college. Right after counselling, I was given the option of joining BNMIT even with its low cut-off rank. Admission is done quickly for any entrance test students whereas students getting admission thourough management seat are required to take an interview. Coming to the course, I was keen on information science even before joining the college.
Faculty
All the teaching faculty members have a master degree and most of them have a doctorate in their respective fields. They put their maximum effort in teaching, even the inexperienced ones. The non-teaching staff are qualified enough to work in their respective departments.
