Remarks

i am proud of my self that i am reading in India's seventh most oldest university. but now days the situation is very different in university culture like teacher and student relation is fallen from best to bad due politics in campus, teaching quality of university system and lack of administrative power.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is very good and there is no burden of to end course due to the reason that courses are divided into lectures (means you have to finish this particular topic with in a given period of time) and the other thing is that entire academic structure is based on semester system. As far as the course structure with a focus on research is concerned is the best because the topic/material in course is selected from the GATE(graduate aptitude test in engineering) syllabus which is thoroughly reviewed by the faculty of IITs. The exam structure is based on totally semester system. In a semester, there is three tests of twenty marks namely T1, mid sem and T2. In T1 and T2 only one test's marks will considerable in test which we get higher marks and mid sem is compulsory. And then after semester exams will happen. The labs are well equipped and all facilities(drinking water, toilet etc) are available. The lab timing is 2 to 5 pm that is quite not hectic. In rare cases 10 AM to 5 PM when theory classes would not occurred.

Placement Experience

2

there are very lesser job opportunities from Allahabad university because very less companies visited in campus but there are locally few distinguished hotels like Kanha-Shyam and other recruits professional courses(like hotel management, food technology)students from campus drive. Allahabad university provides internships to students in professional courses like food technology, hotel management, nanotechnology etc.

College Events

5

there are so many events celebrated in our university such as Annual function, fresher party, farewell party, easy writing competition, educational workshops, seminars, speech competition, drawing competition, 26 January and 15 august NCC parade, sculpture art competition etc. the fresher and farewell party are organised by students with the help of their respective department. And a lot of new and old students are gathering together and understanding each other and collecting information of university environment. A lot of national and international level seminars and workshops are organised by departments and university. I had attended a national level two days conference on liquid crystals organised by department of material science in which i worked as a volunteer and present a poster presentation on nano-materials.

Fee Structure And Facilities

the fee structure is completely feasible because i belongs to a low income family and i paid 3300 rs per year for material science course. the fee structure is slightly varies with course to course but overall fee in UG/PG/PhD courses is under family budget except professional courses.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

yes, there is a scholarship of uttar pradesh government. Every student who is enrolled in university or its constituent colleges can avail this scholarship facility. In previous year of my post graduation, i applied for this scholarship and benefited by this scholarship. And another one is DSW merit-cum-means scholarship - which is provided by university.

Campus Life

4.5

There are so many extracurricular activities are happening in university campus. In one of them is sports activities. There is a sports department in university which organised the district, state, national level tournaments. The Allahabad university play a key role in students politics. This university gave so many ministers and bureaucrats who played a pivotal role in the Indian politics. One of the fresh example is RICHA SINGH who was a former president of Allahabad university student union and now a member of samajwadi party.

Hostel Facilities

4

if i rate the hostels i give 4 out of 5 rating because infrastructure and facilities in hostels are quite well maintained. University have currently 5-boys hostels and 3-girls hostels. The annual charges of hostel is approx 14500 rs including mess. Hostels rooms are available in single as well as sharing with a large room depending upon the rooms availability during allotting. In case when you did not get hostel, the room rent in Allahabad city area is approximate 3000 to 5000 rs as minimum.

Alumni/Alumna

Every year a alumni meet is organised by Allahabad University student union. In which college seniors, IAS, IPS, Commissioner, professors are gather together and share their past experience of university campus life, their professional life and motivate the all students and guide students for their career in future.

Admission

In 2018, i had applied for so many colleges/universities such as-BHU, CUCET, ALLAHABAD University(AU), Lucknow University and other for PG Regular program in physics but in AU,i had applied for material science (because this is an applied branch of physics and material science department is rarely found in universities and colleges except IITs and some universities and future scope is good enough ).Unfortunately, i got less marks than cut-off in above mentioned universities except one i.e. i topped in Allahabad University material science entrance examination with 163/300 marks. Then i did a little bit of inquiry related to my admission in this course and subsequently took admission. There is no interview in PG courses but some departments take interview like food technology, nanotechnology etc. The notification regarding admission form releases in the mid of April every year. The eligibility criterion is varies according to which branch you want to take admission but as a student of material science your background must be either physics/chemistry/mathematics in graduation.

Faculty

4

as far as faculty of my college is concerned they all have a PhD degree/NET-JRF/SRF in his/her specific subjects. And they have years of research experience as well as academics. In my material science department all the faculty members(excluding few faculty members) belongs to IITs and few of them have a post-doctoral research experience.

Meerut College, M.Sc Computer Science
Reviewed on Sep 3, 2021(Enrolled 2018)

Remarks:

Okay so I'm gonna give you a detailed description of my admission procedure. As I decided to pursue M.Sc Computer Science from my home town only, I needed to apply for admission by registering myself in the university i.e. Choudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut. Few days after registration, first merit was released and I was selected there and then. I got a call from my college i.e. Meerut College and I went for the admission. I was really skeptical about it in the first place because this college was renowned for its political culture and bad people driven environment especially for girls. But still I decided to go further. I still remember my first day in the college was on 10/08/2018. As I entered the college and went to my department, I was relieved to see that our department (Department of Professional Courses) was entirely separate from all other traditional departments. Since Meerut College is really ancient (estb.1892), it doesn't have the modern infrastructure and gives the feel of that really old colleges. But my department (as it's newly built) was somewhat better than the rest. Hereby I'll mention the pros and cons of my total experience of 2 years in the college. Pros: 1. Teachers are really qualified. 2. Regardless the strength of the class, classes were held regularly. 3. Entire course was completed by the teachers before the exams and also good notes were given. 4. Seniors were helpful in giving notes and previous year question papers. 5. Scholarships were given to almost every student who applied for it through UP Scholarship and Fee Reimbursement Scheme. Cons: 1. No extra curricular activities like games, annual events, freshers and farewell parties, etc. 2. No modern infrastructure like ACs, well-built washrooms, canteen, etc. 3. Out of the strength of 38, max 10 students came to college regularly. 4. No in-campus placements.
