The Material Science program at Allahabad University begins its application process in late April, with entrance exams in early June and results by late June. Admissions start in July. The program, which requires a background in Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics, boasts a faculty from prestigious institutions like IITs and NITs, all holding Ph.D. degrees or equivalent qualifications. The department offers a supportive environment and conducts 20 exams annually across two semesters.

Facilities include well-equipped labs with instruments like XRD and NOVA. The annual fee for the Material Science course is approximately 3,300 INR, with an overall affordable fee structure of about 7,000 INR per year, making it accessible for middle-class families. Despite the affordability, job placements are limited, with few companies visiting the campus. Some local businesses and hotels occasionally recruit through campus drives. Internships in fields such as food technology, hotel management, and nanotechnology are offered, and students are encouraged to seek additional internships.

While placement rates are low, they occur annually. The university does not provide loan facilities but offers several scholarships. The Uttar Pradesh government scholarship is available to all students, and the DSW merit-cum-means scholarship offers between 10,000 and 12,000 INR.
