IIT Roorkee is indeed a dream college to spend 4 years of your life and it proves itself. It is a platform that can be utilized to gain anything. The administration of IIT Roorkee is very rigid in some aspects. Need some flexibility in certain cases.

IIT-JEE Advance - 2013 I scored 197 out of 360 and secured AIR 2199 out of 1.5 Lakhs students. IIT JEE is meant for admissions in IITs and IIT Roorkee, being one of the oldest technical institutes of Asia was higher in my preferences.

The course curriculum is extremely good. It is moreover industry oriented rather than research-oriented.

My institution does not ensure internships for everyone but the Placement Office puts hard efforts to maximize the no. of campus interns. Stipend ranges from 75K per month plus accommodation to 15K per month. All major companies such as Facebook, AmEx, Schlumberger, ITC, LinkedIn, Google, Microsoft, Flipkart, Qualcomm, etc. visit each year.

Placements are pretty good and the graph is rising on the positive side. Almost 250 companies visited to offer more than 1250 offers. CTC varied from crores to a few lakhs.

Cognizance (Technical Fest) : Asia's second-largest fest. Budget more than a crore.Thomso (Cultural Fest): Manages to get good participation and big names such as Farhan Akhtar, KK.Sangram (Sports Fest): Participation from IITs, BITS, NITs, DU, IPU, and other major colleges.Sankalp (Social Convention): Started 2 years ago by efforts of NSS, IIT Roorkee.

The fee is around 67K each semester which is expensive considering IITs being a Government institution.

Various scholarships are available for students. Students on the basis of their parental income can get their full tuition fee waived which is around 45K per semester. There are special schemes for category students. Banks in Campus (SBI and PNB) are ready to provide you the loan at a very low-interest rate and that too very hassle-free.

The gender ratio is quite unbalanced. For 10 boys there is only 1 girl. The culture of the institute is very good. Night life, Weekly debates, and quizzes, Movie screenings, activities by hobbies club and cultural societies are very common.

Hostel facilities at IIT Roorkee are fantastic. Overnight Canteen, Gym, Library, Study Room, Shops, Washing Room and Common Room are present in each hostel (Bhawan, as it is known in IIT Roorkee). UG hostels are single seated. Mess food is edible.

Seniors students are extremely helpful and interactive. They are ready to advise you and never hesitate to throw a small party (aka Chapo in R land) whenever you visit them.

Faculties are well qualified and doyen of their field. Most of them are from IITs only. But some faculties, being research-oriented fail to express themselves.
