Remarks

The college should work hard on the placement part and invite placements from other companies too. The salary packages should be increased especially for this course. the infrastructure should be worked on effectively. Food availabilities should be increased.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum is pretty same as other colleges i.e, 4 semesters in total. the exams take place in the months of June and December. The curriculum is mostly self-explanatory though few subjects include statistics and analytics. it throws light on the work areas of a hospitality management student. in fact, we were also told about working in fmcg companies, banks, hospitals, and every other company. We were taken to industrial visits to places like - Rajbari Bawali, Peerless inn, Spring Club, Bengal Club and more. Apart from all these, every now and then the college arranged for visiting faculty meets literary programs, entrepreneurship programs and more.

Placement Experience

2

The placement of the college is more or less fine. The majority of the companies offering placements are hotels and travel agencies. Names like Novotel Kolkata, Leela, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Taj, Carewell Travels, SOTC,. Retail biggies like Aditya Birla is one of them as well as Tommy Hilfiger. The majority of the students are placed during the campus placements. yes, the institution has opened certain professional courses like personality development, foreign languages, spoken English, image building classes and more.

College Events

5

Our college celebrates almost every festival. starting from Holi, to Diwali - they do it all. Viswakarma Puja is also celebrated. tourism days, environment days are a few more to be added. every year they arrange the annual fest which is one of the most famous in Kolkata named 'Login Astitwa'. the fashion department also arranges their own named 'Y-Comm'.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The course structure is not as expensive as compared to private colleges. mostly colleges charge around 4-5 lacs. but yes considering it to be a two-year course it is slightly on the higher side. they have installment facilities - yearly as well as per semester wise.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not avail of any education loan. talking about scholarships, no, they do not offer the same. But they might personally offer some kind for meritorious students.

Campus Life

1.5

NSHM is famous for extra-curricular activities. every now and then you will come across students practicing for dance programs or dramas. especially the media students are very energetic about organizing events. We have an FM studio especially broadcasting NSHM's channel.

Alumni/Alumna

NSHM has an alumni group where they arrange meetups every year. Yes, the alumni network and senior students are very helpful.

Admission

NSHM is one of the oldest colleges in Kolkata and it is home to several courses both in bachelors and masters. I pursued this particular course keeping in mind various factors. firstly, a master's in hospitality management engages in providing the student an exposure to not only the hospitality industry but also management as a whole. with the hospitality industry booming, there is no doubt it is going to do the same in the upcoming days. secondly, it probes deep into customer relationship management and as we all know, CRM managers are mandatory in every organization. Thirdly, it gives a proper acknowledgment to the sectors in the hospitality industry.

Faculty

2.5

the classes take place on a regular manner and all the faculties are very punctual. they are very attentive about attendance. the professors are mixed aged and the majority are Ph.D. holders along with vast experience in the concerned field. the faculties are very affable and we can reach out to them in case of any need. yes, they do hold relevant industry experience. For instance, the HOD has been into the teaching profession for more than 25 years and holds a Ph. D. The hotel management professors have a comprehensive history of working the five stars.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My decision to choose this course depended on the fact that this course provides you with the opportunity to get various jobs in the industries with a high lpa. But this college does not help much in that aspect. All I had to do was myself. It is my humble opinion that the institution should improve its guidance in the area of its teaching methods. The exams were twice a year and were quite difficult on their own.
