Remarks

Very good college with good faculty and lots of exposure due to high number of patients, both coming to outpatient department as well as those getting admitted for treatment or surgery. Life in the hostel is pretty chill. During exams it gets a bit hectic

Course Curriculum Overview

5

MBBS is very hectic. There are nine semesters. Thus we have to answer nine semester exams that have subjective structure followed by practical exams. Consists of first, second and third MBBS part 1 and 2. Second MBBS consists of one and half year.

Placement Experience

5

There is compulsory internship for one year after completing MBBS (in all medical colleges) wherein students are posted in all the department's for variable duration. The stipend is around 20,000 per month as an intern.

College Events

4

Annual gathering- Consists of performances by the students as well as teachers, include singing, dance, and plays. Plexus - Organised every year by the students council wherein all nearby colleges participate in various competitions.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Feasible. Each student has to pay about 40,000 per semester. The obc, st, SC and other so called backward castes pay almost half the fees that the general category students pay. As pg students, the doctors get a stipend instead.

Fees and Financial Aid

I availed a scholarship through the pradhan mantri yojna for passing 12th standard with good marks. It transferred 10,000 to my bank (just once) which probably is considered for the entire course. Had to provide several documents several times to the directorate of education.

Campus Life

4.5

Since the College comes under Goa university, there are several university sports events organised by Goa university for all colleges that come under it. Includes football, basketball, cricket, swimming, table tennis, badminton and so on

Hostel Facilities

3

Boys hostel is really bad. The buildings are old with several problems like leakage during the monsoon, no proper hot water supply, no mess and so on. At the same time, due to limited rooms in the hostel it is really difficult to get a room.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes , seniors help a lot through advice and passing on their notes to their juniors every year. Some seniors also teach their juniors as and when they get some free time. Thus they also revise the MBBS syllabus for their neet of.

Admission

Following 12th board exams, I answered if meet exam which is medical entrance test. Got a good score and 13th rank in Goa. Admission was based on merit. Got admission in the 1st round itself. The 12th boards percentage does not count but should be atleast 50% to be eligible.

Faculty

5

Very good. Each subject is basically a department that consists of Doctors who treat the patients in the hospital as well as teach the students. In clinics, teachers teach the students at the same time as they treat the patients.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The academics here is really great. They focus much on clinical aspects rather than on non clinical. The SGDs( small group discussion) and SDLs( self Directed learning) are better approachable form to reach students here they make a small group of five students per teacher for the discussion and gives a topic for the discussion. One improvement I will suggest is to use animated videos more in lectures rather than written slides. Frequency and timings of exams are perfectly coordinated (somewhat frequency is more????) that gives a better time and pressure to revise the contents taught.

I decided to choose this course when I was 14. Curriculum is well balanced for students so they can easily prepare for real world applications. Timings of classes can be changed. Exam timings are good but frequency is high.
