Remarks

The positive remarks include a chapel. Good campus. Theres a pet therapy with lots of rabbits and birds. Good faculty. Friendly atmosphere. Snack bars. Canteens. Good infrastructure and facilities. Good management.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is really good. The first year has subjects like anatomy, physiology and biochemistry. The second year onwards we get clinical exposure. The exam is conducted yearly by the kerala health university. There are 4 university exams throughout the entire course.

Placement Experience

4

Our college does not provide placements. Yes they do provide internship of one year duration with adequate stipend. I still haven't graduated so i do not get any stipend at present. But i have heard from our seniors that they do provide good stipend and the internship experience is good.

College Events

4

The different events that are being celebrated in our college includes a college council day celebration, onam celebration, Christmas celebration, hostel day, arts fest, sports fest, intercollege basketball tournament, a graduation ceremony.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is a little bit expensive. It might be feasible for those with a good financial background. But its not so feasible for those of low socioeconomic status. But the good thing is they provide scholarship based on the net family income.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college management provides scholarship to students of low socioeconomic status. Free education is provided for a selected no of students. Other than this they also provide a fee reduction for some students based on family income which i avail. Also scholarship based on performance in the university examinations is also provided.

Campus Life

4.5

They are good. We have a well equipped gym in the campus. Also a large ground for games like football, volleyball is present. A good condition outdoor basketball court is present. In fact sports day and arts fest are conducted.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel is 4 storied. Separate hostel buildings are provided for boys and girls. It has enough rooms. Rooms are double room and single rooms are provided for those who request. There are no attached bathrooms but bathroom and toilets are separate.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes they are very helpful. They provide you with tips on how to study. They provide textbooks and old question papers. They help us in the clinics. Seniors have always been very helpful they are like our second teachers.

Admission

I appeared for the medical entrance examination conducted by the kerala government. After this the results were published and based on marks students ranked. Following this there were different sets of allotments. Each student is alloted to colleges based on ranks. I obtained a score of 788.85 and the rank i got was 2530. The top ranks will be alloted to government medical colleges. I belong to the Catholic community. In my college there are 15 seats in the community quota. I was alloted based on this quota. There were almost 5 rounds of allotments. I did not get any allotment in the first, second or third rounds. My allotment came in the fourth one. After the allotment list comes we were given two days to take the admission after which we will lose that seat. So the very next day of allotment we were given a deadline to pay the fee and take the admission. And thats how the procedure went.

Faculty

4.5

Our college faculty is really good. They are well educated, qualified and student friendly. Their classes are good and they maintain a really good student teacher relationship. They not only are good teachers but also are sincere to their work as doctors.

The course is a bit tough rather than other courses (professional courses) MBBS is a 4 year course with 1 year compulsory internship dealing with a total of 13-4 subject over the 4 years The curriculum prepares us for the real world experiecne but more often the clinical subjects aim in patuent student interaction that overall help in the achievemnt of professionalism The frequency if exams are very high as there needs to be regular revision of subjects in order to prepare for the finals and perfect in all clinical theory and oractical aspects

Kerala University of Health Sciences - [KUHS], Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
Reviewed on Nov 30, 2024(Enrolled 2021)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is of high relevance as it ensures that the student learns everything he need to learn in an mbbs life to become a good doctor. The curriculum we are now following is decided by the National Medical Council (NMC) of India and is CBME curriculum. The curriculum include many Self directed learning methods and small group discussions etc which makes the learning interesting and easy. The curriculum definitely prepares the students to become a good doctor in future. Some minute improvements are still required like no need of these many SGDs for community medicine and forensic. It'll be better to include more field activities in community medicine . The frequency and timing of exams are sometimes a burden for the students as the exams are so close and they are not getting enough time to improve themselves which may affect their confidence. Sometimes the exams are scheduled in between some meets conducted by university which makes it difficult for the students to participate.
