Remarks

This is a great university for those who do not want to attend regular classes or for those who loves study on their own. With the distance education system, students have a lot time which can be utilized for doing creative and new things.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Yes the fee structure is really feasible and the college is not that expensive. The annual fee for a B.Sc student is 5 to 6 thousand. This is something every Indian middle class student can arrange and pay easily.

Fees and Financial Aid

Although the university is really cheap and most of the students must not have any problem in paying the fee. But for those who do there are university and state level scholarships available. Eligible candidates can apply.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

No i have not opted for the hostels as this is an open college/university. There is no provision for students to stay in the college campus for regular classes. So the university does not provide any hostels facilities.

Alumni/Alumna

The university was opened in the year 1997 on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary year of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. So university is considerable pretty old and have a rock solid alumni base. Due to the distance schilling method of teaching there is not much interaction with the seniors.

Admission

All the students who meet the eligibility criteria for admission can apply online on the official website of the university. I applied for B.Sc Programs, where the students should have passed 10+2 examination from a recognized board of education. And there a merit list is released which based on the students score.

Faculty

5

Since this is an open college there is not much interaction with the faculty of the college. However in times of needs the faculty are really responsive and helpful. They are really open towards the students, regarding their issues and queries.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
