NIT Rourkela, Integrated Masters
Reviewed on Jan 29, 2020(Enrolled 2020)

Remarks

The NIT Rourkela is one of the premier institute of national importance in the country. It produces good number of engineers and researchers. The placement is very nice. The institute, overall, is a good place to learn.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The Course Curriculum for Integrated Masters can be upgraded. It needs improvisations. In one semester, one has to give 2 exams for each course taken. One is mid-semester exam and other is end-semester exam which are of 30 and 50 marks respectively and another 20 marks completely lies in professor's hands which he/she gives on the basis of behaviour and conduct in class.

Placement Experience

4

The placements and job opportunities are very nice. It's better than other NITs. Yes, our Institute provide internship but only to the students of other universities or colleges. One cannot do an official internship in NIT Rourkela if he/she is a student there.

College Events

4.5

Innovision(Tech Fest) Vriddhi( Sports Fest) NITRutsav(Spring Fest) Cosmopolitan Fest All of the above mentioned fests are organised by Student Activity Centre of NIT Rourkela and all these fests are at par with the fests of IITs.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Yes the fee structure is feasible. The fee structure consists of Tuition fees, Hostel fees, Mess Charges, SAC fees, Medical Fees and miscellaneous. So, for the Integrated Masters students the fee is about ?41250 per semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is an NITR Alumni Association which provides Scholarship to the students on the basis of merit and that's very helpful in student's life. As such there is no other scholarship that I know. So yes, Alumni Endowment Scholarship is helpful to students who have necessity of scholarship.

Campus Life

4

The extracurricular life of NITR is way too good. One can excel in any interest they pursue. There is swimming pool, Cricket Stadium, Athletic Stadium, Central Gym, Student Activity Centre, Many Student based Clubs for gathering of same interests students.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Yes, the hostel facility is very nice. The vibe of the hostel is good. Hostel is well equipped with gym, sports centre and canteens. The hostel rooms size is good enough and cleanliness is the plus point.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, the Alumni Association is very helpful here. They provide scholarship for the needy students. They provide funds for the extracurricular clubs. They also conduct seminars, assessments and talks for the students to provide an exposure of the Job sector, research sector or higher studies.

Admission

JEE Mains Entrance Exam is conducted. If one secures a good rank he/she can apply through JOSAA. There are few rounds of Counselling at nearest NITs where one can fix his chosen branch and during the admission date the students can get admission letter and join the institute.

Faculty

3.5

I have a mixed review on the quality of faculty here. It's like someone who is good at teaching is not having much research profile and someone who is bad at teaching is with a good research profile in general.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is now updated since it became a University, so its more relevant to industry now but still we have to do extra courses for coding. Exams happen every few months—2 internals and one end-sem. They are not very easy, you actually need to study to pass without backlogs

The placements of my college is good. This year 75% of the students are already placed with an average package of 8LPA . The highest package till now for this year is 22LPA. Many companies have visited for the placements and 100+ offers have been made. Companies like BNY, Infosys, Deloitte, Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Bain& Company, High Radius, TCS, EY, PWC and many more of them have visited the campus.

Placement Experience:

Placement opportunities in my college are good, with students generally becoming eligible for campus placements from the pre-final or final year, depending on the course and company criteria. The college has an active placement celll that supports students by Organizing training sessions, resume building and also mock interviews.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The pedagogy is excellent since majorly learning is through real-world case studies, reserach papers, peer discussions and interactive class activities. The professors provide materials and pre-reads at the starting of the term and the content is highly focussed on practical learning. The AI sessions are enriching. The difficulty level of exams vary among the instructors but usually is aligned with topics already taught.

sociology as an academic discipline is really sought after in the recent times. it is considered as one of the most sought elective chosen by the upsc aspirants and the discipline in itself gives you a great chance at understanding your society and other societies about how they function amd operate, provides knowledge about various cultures, health, environment, city structure and so much more. you can pursue higher studies or go for NET exams right after post graduation. you can also work with ngos and other nonprofit organizations. each semester is ideally of 6 months and two exams are there. the difficulty level of exams would range from moderate to high

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well MBBS is a serving degree, if you are interested in serving the people you can choose this degree. It also needs a lot of patience, here we have classes from 7 AM so its a bit hard to wake up this early & ends at 4 PM which causes more trouble coz u won't get to rest properly, usually we end up being tired & lack of sleep, so I think this schedule can have a bit more change with regards to us children. The exams here are done very frequently, as in the class tests are taken up time to time , sometimes surprise tests are also done so u have to be very updated with what's being studied each cls.The internals are held in every trimester & at the end of the year a product exam is being held which is the important one.
