Remarks

Our department as the title suggests has some of the best research going on in gujarat. It comprises of modern bio-optics to theoretical particle physics and quantum chaos. Not all the professors are good but those who are make up for it. Nonetheless the faculty is quite helpful and student friendly.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

In my opinion our curriculum was quite vibrant in terms of applied physics with focus on modern techniques such as bio-optics, fiber optics, thin films etc. It was a great course which got us ready for industry related jobs and also for the further research if desired. The exam structure was two mid-sems and an end semester exam. The best thing was there were viva conducted where we had to face the faculty and answer questions to them like in an interview. it made us ready to face interviews in real life.

Placement Experience

1.5

There is a placement cell in our faculty but it is non existent in our department for some reasons. No internship is provided by our college. Though a professor provides summer internships via SRFP. The fellow is paid 10000 per month.

College Events

4

Three main tech fests are organised. 1. Prerna- it is Asia' largest Differently abled festival and gives them opportunity to participate in various events. 2. Paramarsh- organised by students of our faculty, it is a great tech fest which gives engineering students to participate in offbeat games and events. 3. Footprints- one of the biggest tech fests in India, It is extravaganza event held again by the students and celebrates engineering on a large scale with various events like related to engineering organised. All these events are 3 day events that also have various expert lectures and at last day there is a closing ceremony with a performance by renowned artists of India. So all in all fests are an integral part of our department/faculty

Fee Structure And Facilities

fee structure is quite feasible as it is a state govt sponsored department. I completed my post graduation with mere fees of Rs. 20,000. Considering the fees being taken in private colleges and the facility provided by our department, it is quite feasible.

Fees and Financial Aid

For economically weak students, DSW scholarship is being given by our university. In this scholarship, based on interview you are given Scholarship based on economic condition based on your family background and merit.

Campus Life

3

There is a ground where we can play sports like cricket, volleyball, badminton etc. Equipments are provided by the University. Also there is a sports complex in our university where we can enrol among various sports offered. In our department, a student committee is formed comprising of 4 students and they would organise monthly expert lectures, lab visits to various labs of India and industrial visit to industries like Crompton Greaves. I was a part of this committee.

Alumni/Alumna

alumni network is quite helpful, but our seniors are not so helpful. Instead they would ask us for help in their matters where we would not be involved. We have an alumni portal where we regular job postings are posted and anyone interested can apply.

Admission

To be eligible to apply for this course, we have to have atleast 55% in B.Sc. After applying an entrance test is conducted. Based on its results and marks of your BSc, you are admitted based on merit generated.

Faculty

4

The faculty is quite balanced. The faculty is research oriented. Of course, not all the faculty are research oriented but no department is perfect. I have met some of the best teachers in my life at this department.

In the second year of the MSc, many adtech companies come to the campus to hire students. In 2025, 95% students are placed who are interested in the placement of MSc Mathematics. One of my batchmates got an INR 48 LPA package at the Tech company Accenture Japan. And the average Package is an INR 17 LPA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The things that influenced me include clinical work, which is interesting to me. The curriculum does not prepare you for real-world applications; you need hands-on & clinical practice Teaching methods are already good. For curriculum, more emphasis on real-time clinical exposure is necessary Frequency was one in 3-4 months. Difficulty level can be 7 out of 10

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is excellent in every way! The course, which I did was of Life Sciences, and it's curriculum was absolutely wonderful! The syllabus had been designed such that it perfectly aligned with the syllabus of various exams, such as CSIR, GATE etc. And also, for the end semester dissertation, our university allowed us to pursue it from any other institute or university if we wish to, and encouraged us to do so. And because of that I did my dissertation research from SLS, JNU, in cancer biology.

This is year 2021 when we have probably 1000% more jobs in IT than 10 years ago. It is much easier to get in Tier-1 companies. The answer was still a BIG no back in 2010 when two of my closest friends did not get placed in college placement and it did turn out into their favor as they cracked even better companies than the ones at college. Math is simple only if you wish to do it: Assume that you will work your entire life until you retire. Let’s take the most pessimistic scenario of an average employee’s life. Total span of employment: 30 [no one remains unemployed for many years if they really want a job] Years
