Remarks
You will an engineering at a very low cost. But you will also get to see how a government institute works. The ragging which is still persisting in this college. The old infrastructure which is yet to repaired in the last 40 years. The only field and a basketball that are not quite well maintained so as to encourage students to atleast play some outdoor games.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college provides with 10 courses in engineering where there are Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Metallurgy, Chemical, CSE, ECE, IT, Mining, Production Engineering. The college provide with the best facilities for technical education but most of the appliances are very old. It is now that the infrastructure of this college is being slowly improved. The JCECE used to be of 90 marks. +1 for correct and -1/4 for incorrect. It had sections of physics, maths, chemistry comprising of 30 marks each.
Placement Experience
The placements is maximum for the metallurgy branch nearly 95%. The Mechanical, Electrical, Mining branches have decent placements. As in other colleges the CSE and IT branches have a better placements opportunities but in this college is situation is just the opposite. You have a good chance for internships as in the nearby locations you have a lot of industries.
College Events
Sandhan is the technical fest which is presented by the model club of BIT Sindri. Dhatvika is the fest which is presented by the metallurgy branch. There are also some small events held by the IETE, ISTE, GRS etc. There is also the cultural fest is held once in two years.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The annual fee for the each year is around rs 65,000 which includes electricity charge, hostel maintenance fee, Examination fee per year.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is a very good facility for students requiring scholarships from different schemes by the government. The most popular is the e-kalyan. The bonafide making process by the college is simple and for other requirements the college staff is there. The hostel has notices which tell about the scholarships available by the college and many have benefited from them. The SBI bank in the college premises offers you with a student loan.
Campus Life
Adequate classes are there for labs. The newly built IT building has enough for the newer technology. It has a well renowned SIEMEN's lab not much attention is paid to the sports section. Its only when a sports event is going to be held then the students are seen on the playground. Interbranch football, volleyball and basketball match is held during September and the BIT sports are held during the month of January. Technical fest are managed by the model club. There are other few fests or utsav which are conducted by the different club of the BIT Sindri.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is old and in good condition except for the toilets and bathrooms. They are in a abysmal condition. Your regularly need to tell the Darwan about them to get them cleaned. The hostel infrastructure keep on degrading from the first year to the final year.
Alumni/Alumna
You will get a good alumni who are helpful in advising students for their career. They occasionally come during different events in the college to advise as well as to help you in internships and funding the college. The interaction with the seniors is the worst.Ragging is still prevalent at minor levels. In events and in clubs you get to interact with them. But if you find them in the colleges premises else where their behavior isn't good.
Admission
In the year 2018 I made my second attempt for JCECE (Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination). Through this exam you could get admission into ten colleges in Jharkhand of which only one is government and that is BIT Sindri. I opted for BIT Sindri with Electrical Engineering in Namkum, Ranchi where the counselling is held and for with your required documents you need to go to BIT Sindri for admissions. But now the scenario has changed from 2019, from now onwards the college is taking admissions through JEE Main.
Faculty
The faculty comprises of old professors and the new ones too. The old professors are lenient in giving marks, attendance. While the new ones are strict for attendance. For these professors you need to attend their classes else they will not allow to sit for the mid sems. But the old professors are experienced and are very profound in teaching. The labs is more for noting down the reading not for theoretical. For theory you need to be self studying the topic well.
