I got into this college through west bengal joint entrance exam board(WBJEEB). My rank was not good(gen. 36226). But i always wanted to go for the core subject. So during the counselling process i filled my form for the mechanical and electrical branch. I had filled for around 40 colleges. My first priority was for the government colleges and universities followed by private colleges. Gnit was listed in between 20-30.

Electrical engineering is a very good subject to study if you have the interest and will. There are many things inside the subject that you can see and apply in your daily life. This also makes learning very interesting. the faculty in the college is good and helpful. Some of the teachers are very encouraging and friendly. The electrical engineering stream in the college is also accredited by aicte and national board of accreditation(nba).

The college was founded in the year 2003. Since then different companies have visited the college. The companies that visit college frequently are tcs, itc infotech, tech mahindra etc. The starting salaries offered by these companies varies from rs.20000 per month to rs.35000 per month. apart from these companies many other companies also visit the college at different times of the year.

Different companies come to college every year. the placement status is good for the it,cse and ece students as most of the companies that come are software based companies. Companies like tcs, tech mahindra, itc infotech, ibm, infosys, wipro wase, wipro bps, zensar technologies, data64, eclips, ceasefire, ericsson, hexaware, xl dynamics, genpact, maven infotech, asian paints etc. More than 40 companies visit the campus each year. The salary packages range from more or less 2 lakhs per annum to 5 lakhs per annum. More than 150 students were placed last year.

Last year there was a huge event organised by the jis group in the campus that lasted for three days. Different colleges of the jis group had participated in the event. There was competition among different colleges in various events like singing, dancing, dramas, band shows etc. we also have college fest every year. The students organise different sports events like football tournament, cricket tournament, volleyball tournament etc. every semester. different technical fests are also held in the college.

At the time of admission i had to pay around rs.82000. rs.20000 was for the counselling process and another rs.21000 was for the admission procedure. The 1st semester fee was rs.41,000. same is for the second semester in second year, i had to pay rs.42,000 for each semester. For third year its rs.42,500 for each semester and for fourth year its rs.43,500 for each semester. Late fine is also imposed for the students who fail to submit the fees within given time.

Different bank loans are accepted by the college. I have many friends who are studying here on the loans offered by different banks. I do not have enough knowledge about the scholarship facilities offered by the college but there are few students who have different scholarships programs offered by their state governments to help them study. These students only pay for the hostel fees, the college fees are covered by the government.

The campus life is sometimes very boring and sometime its fun. We have our classes from 10 in the morning to 5:30 in the evening in between we get a 50 mins break. But some days the classes get over before 5:30. There is a huge field in the middle of the campus. Students play football, cricket and volleyball after the college hours. Usually seminars and workshops on different topic and ideas go on every 10 to !5 days. There are no student political parties inside the college. but there are different clubs like robotics club, music club etc.There are more boys in the college than girls.The ratio is like 5:3. some training programs are also organised by the college to help the students develop their soft skills. These programs are also incorporated so as to help the students to sit for various competitive exams later on.

The hostel life is very enjoyable. The boys hostels are outside the campus. There are separate hostels for each year. but the hostel's condition is not good. There are either two or three boys staying in a single room for each hostel there are 30 to 35 se
