Honestly, doing a B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering from NIT Trichy has been one of the best decisions of my life. The curriculum is designed keeping in mind the current demands like coding, web app development, and machine learning. It’s not just about academics, though; they focus on overall development, including communication skills and physical health. The placement records are impressive too—almost 98% of students get placed! My senior even got an internship with a stipend of 1.2 lakh per month. If you're serious about coding and want a solid foundation, NIT Trichy is definitely worth it.
I’m currently in my first year of B.Tech CSE at NIT Trichy, and I can say it’s totally worth it! The faculty is excellent, and they really encourage us to dive deep into coding and other tech fields. There are workshops and events like FESTEMBER that make campus life fun and engaging. As for placements, I’ve heard that the highest package goes up to 60 LPA, which is mind-blowing! I’m excited about the internship opportunities coming up in my second year. Overall, it’s a great environment to grow both academically and personally.
The placements for the Computer Science and Engineering department at NIT Trichy are not only on par with those at top IITs but also among the best in the country.
Unlike IITs, where many big companies visit on the same day, the recruitment process here is more relaxed, with minimal overlap between companies. Except for Google and Facebook, almost all major companies come to the campus for recruitment. Some of these include Amazon, Microsoft, DE Shaw, Flipkart, LinkedIn, Samsung, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley, all offering CTCs (cost to company) above 15 lakhs.
Additionally, there's very low competition among students. Most toppers opt for higher studies, a good number secure PPOs, and the rest face almost negligible competition. This makes the placement process relatively easier compared to IITs. With a decent understanding of Computer Science in the CSE department at NIT Trichy, you can land a top-paying job.
One more point to consider is that companies often view NITs as being in a lower tier than IITs. This means that the same job profile could potentially offer a higher package at NIT Trichy.
The students in CS are fantastic! For every idea I’ve wanted to bring to life, I’ve needed coders, and there have always been talented individuals from NIT Trichy who’ve stepped up to help. You’ll find an incredible peer group, and the facilities are quite good.
However, the teaching can be disappointing. This might be because many of the good teachers aren’t teaching their areas of expertise; they’re assigned subjects that don’t align with their strengths, and the quality suffers. There are several temporary faculty members, and they may not meet your expectations.
Don’t rely too much on the teachers. Work hard on your own and lean on your friends for support. That’s the only way to navigate the frustration.
As for placements, they are solid because the students are impressive. For everything else, you’ll need to come here and experience it firsthand!
