I can't recommend B.Tech Chemical Engineering at NIT Trichy enough! The college has a fantastic internship program where companies like Oracle and Exxon come to recruit. Although the competition for pre-placement offers is tough, many students still manage to secure them. The campus life is vibrant with tech fests and sports culture that keeps us engaged. Plus, the placement rates are phenomenal, especially in our branch, which has a 100% placement record. It feels great knowing that I’m at one of the top colleges in India!

This assumes you've done your homework on choosing Chemical Engineering as your undergrad course (I really hope so). To be straightforward:

  • Faculty: Most professors are quite competent in their areas of expertise. Core subjects like Process Dynamics, Reaction Engineering, Mass Transfer, and Equipment Design have an excellent faculty circle. Of course, there are a few odd pebbles here and there.
  • Infrastructure & Facilities: The labs are just above average compared to top universities in India and are somewhat outdated. Improvements are happening, albeit slowly. However, lab assistants are knowledgeable and student-friendly. If you're part of a project team, there are enough facilities to get the job done. If not, other department labs are generally accessible.
  • Internships: In any engineering course, keep in mind that not everyone secures an internship through the department. Typically, only about 50–60% of students manage to do so. But opportunities are available!

Doing B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from NIT Trichy has been an amazing experience for me. The curriculum is really robust, following the same standards as IITs, which means we get a solid foundation. Plus, the faculty is super supportive and helps us with everything from internships to projects. The placement stats are impressive too—my branch has a 100% placement rate, and companies like Google and Microsoft come here offering great packages. So, if you’re considering it, I’d say go for it!
