LPU organized its fifth edition of its national-level Moot Court Competition with over 300 participants. The team from Christ University Bangalore won the competition with Punjab University (Regional Campus) Ludhiana as runner-up.

LPU’s School of Law Hosted 5th National Moot Court Competition

New Delhi: The Lovely Professional University (LPU) School of Law recently held the fifth edition of “Gavelled”, its National Moot Court Competition. More than 300 students from around 50 institutes all over the country participated in Gavelled 2024, organized by the Moot Court Society (MCS). 

The competition at LPU saw three days of intense debate and deliberation by the participants. The total prizes for the competition came up to INR 1 lakh. The topic for this year’s Moot Court Competition was “Socio-Criminal Issue Faced by Innocent People Living in Society”.

Participants had to present evidence-based arguments in front of a panel of esteemed judges, including the Hon’ble Justices of the Bombay High Court, Rajasthan High Court, Punjab High Court, and Delhi High Court. 

The final round of Gavelled 2024 was judged by Justice Dr Pushpendra Singh Bhati, Justice Nitin R. Borkar, and Justice Makarand Subhash Karnik. The Guest of Honour for the valedictory session was LPU Pro Chancellor Rashmi Mittal. LPU Chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal was also present at the function. 

The winning team of Gavelled 2024 was from Christ University Bangalore. The Punjab University (Regional Campus), Ludhiana team came in as runner-ups. There were also individual awards given to various students. 

The title of “Best Researcher” was given to a student of Dr B R Ambedkar National Law University, Sonipat. The “Best Memorial” award was given to the Symbiosis Law School of Pune team. The “Best Speaker” title was awarded to a student of St. Soldier Law College, Jalandhar.
