Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has released the JEE Advanced 2026 cutoff marks for all categories on June 1, 2026. These qualifying marks determine whether a candidate will be included in the respective rank lists used for IIT admissions. To qualify, candidates must secure the prescribed minimum marks in each subject as well as the required aggregate score. Since the cutoff varies across categories, understanding these benchmarks is important for evaluating admission chances and preparing for the next stage of the counselling process.

Understanding Cutoff Criteria
The cutoff marks represent the minimum qualifying benchmark for inclusion in a rank list. Candidates must satisfy both conditions simultaneously: achieving the required aggregate score and securing the minimum marks prescribed in each subject. Those who fail to meet either requirement will not be considered for ranking. The cutoff helps maintain academic standards while ensuring category-wise representation in the admission process.
Category-wise Cutoff Breakdown
For candidates under the Common Rank List (CRL), the qualifying requirement is 92 aggregate marks and at least 8 marks in each subject. Candidates belonging to the OBC-NCL and GEN-EWS categories must secure 82 aggregate marks and 7 marks per subject. For SC, ST, and all PwD categories, the cutoff has been fixed at 46 aggregate marks with a minimum of 4 marks in each subject.
Preparatory Course Cutoff
Candidates eligible for the Preparatory Course must secure at least 23 aggregate marks and 2 marks in each subject. This one-year preparatory programme is designed for eligible students who narrowly miss the standard cutoff and provides an opportunity to transition into regular IIT undergraduate programmes after successful completion.
How Cutoff Affects Admission?
Only candidates who meet the prescribed cutoff will be included in the respective rank lists. These ranks will be used during JoSAA counselling and seat allocation across IITs and other participating institutes. While crossing the cutoff makes a candidate eligible for ranking, admission to top IITs and popular branches generally requires a significantly higher score and rank.
Important Instructions
Candidates should carefully compare their scores with the category-specific cutoff marks and ensure they satisfy both the subject-wise and aggregate requirements. Those who qualify should begin preparing for the JoSAA 2026 counselling process, keep all required documents ready, and plan their college and branch preferences strategically to maximize admission opportunities.
