Prof. Sita Nadar is the Head of CSE Department of the Pune Vidyarthi Griha's College of Science & Technology, Mumbai. She completed her M.Sc. in Computer Science from Mumbai University in 2021. Prof. Sita Nadar had previously worked in the corporate sector before joining Pune Vidyarthi Griha's College of Science & Technology in August 2022 as an Assistant Professor.

What motivated you to change Industry and join the education sector?

I always wanted to venture into academics. I was motivated to contribute my knowledge to the next generation and help the institute grow. Seeing my students learn and thrive is extremely rewarding. 

What are the factors that make your department best?

Infrastructure is one of the best things about Pune Vidyarthi Griha's College of Science and Technology. We have two labs, which we have segregated for our computer science and IT departments. Most colleges do not go for PPT learning in Computer Science, and we had taken verbal feedback from students about PPT learning and got the response that students are comfortable learning through PPT instead of teaching on board. Apart from this, we also have well-qualified teachers with years of practical experience in the CS and IT fields.

What are the objectives of college and how did you train faculties/yourself to deliver this program to students?

Pune Vidyarthi Griha's College of Science and Technology is committed to developing self-disciplined and motivated graduates in the fields of science, technology, and commerce. We provide faculties with adequate facilities, regular training, and professional development with the help of the latest technologies available. Besides this, we also have the latest technologies available at Pune Vidyarthi Griha's College of Science and Technology when it comes to our Computer Science department. This makes students well-equipped with the latest technologies and ahead of other students from other colleges.

What is your vision towards the college for Computer Science?

Pune Vidyarthi Griha’s College of Science & Technology endeavors to be the center of excellence in computer science, information technology, commerce, and management. This is our vision, but there have been many improvements since the start of computer science, and as of now we are stepping towards reaching it. I cannot say we have yet reached the vision, but we are improving step by step by taking the necessary steps that are required for the development of computer science and of our college, Pune Vidyarthi Griha's College of Science and Technology.

What are the critical factors which groomed the students of the Computer Science department from Pune Vidyarthi Griha's College of Science & Technology?

Apart from the regular lectures on the topics of computer science, we also teach about how the outer world works. Besides this, we also guide students on what the requirements for the outer world are. There are also a few programs that teach them about personality grooming. Our team also has a placement department where students are taught how to write a resume and how to crack interviews. We develop highly motivated graduates through the integration of culture, science, and technology.

Can you elaborate on programs other than your daily topics which your department is handling?

We teach management subjects that involve teaching students to be active participants and become leaders of the nation. Our placements cell prepares students for their internships and job interviews through dedicated sessions. Currently, internships are not compulsory for FY and SY, but we motivate the students to do them as they get practical knowledge to start their careers. Few of the third-year students are doing well in their careers, and they have been placed in reputable companies such as Wipro.

Can you tell me what are career options and benefits of pursuing this Computer Science?

One of the biggest benefits of CSE is the range of career options available after completing it. The most popular roles are mobile application developer, IT project manager, data scientist, and IT security specialist. One of the biggest benefits of this career is you can work and earn money regardless of your location. IT and computer Science backgrounds are required in every background and in every field. I would like to suggest students to not blindly jump into anything. Follow the trends and market demands of your course and take decisions accordingly.

What are the challenges you faced/facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

Currently, we are not facing any major challenges as we are following the syllabus of Mumbai University. We regularly talk with students from the Computer Science department of Pune Vidhyarthi Griha's College of Science & Technology and take feedback from them. We take note of the issues and difficulties they might go through while studying Computer Science. We have a structure for everything, that makes solving challenges easy.

What are the types of projects that the students can work on through the Computer Science program?

There are many projects that students can work on through the Computer Science program. Some of our past projects are in creating applications, machine learning models, symbol recognition etc. From our end of the Computer Science Department, students get guidance and support from all faculties while doing their projects. They have no restrictions on topic choice and get all the facilities they need.

What message you would like to give to Youths who would like to make their career in Computer Science?

Computer science is not just about programming, creating apps, making them run, and keeping them running. There are optimization, scalability, security, and many more things to consider. There is so much to do here. Practice makes everything easy and perfect. Programming is a skill that requires practice and repetition to master. 

One of the most effective ways to learn computer science is by building projects. Whether it's a simple calculator or a complex web application, building projects will help you apply your knowledge in a practical way and gain valuable experience. I believe that the key to success in computer science is a combination of hard work, dedication, and a passion for learning.
