Dr. D T V Dharmajee Rao is the Dean of Academics at CMR Technical Campus. He received a B.Tech. degree in Computer Science and Engineering in 1993 and M.Tech. degree in Computer Science and Technology in 2001 from Andhra University and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering on the topic “Computational Acceleration of Deep Neural Network Training Algorithm for Data Classification” in 2020 from JNT University, Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. He has over 26 years of teaching experience. During his teaching career, he taught various subjects like AIML, Data Mining, Computer Networks, Database Management Systems, Operating Systems, C, C++, and JAVA Programming, etc. He has published more than 24 papers in National and International Conferences and Journals. His current research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Mining, and High-Performance Computing (OpenMP, MPI, PThreads, CBLAS, CUBLAS, and CUDA). He guided 38 B.Tech. Students Project Batches and 20 M.Tech. Students. He played an active role in organizing a couple of FDPs, seminars, and conferences in the field of Computer Science and Engineering, convening various technical and cultural fests and annual day celebrations successfully. Further, he has actively monitored the entire campus ICT Networking process for several years in a previous organization.

As a life member of professional bodies like ISTE, CSI, and IE, you have a deep connection to the academic community. How do you leverage these affiliations to bring new perspectives, collaborations, and opportunities to the students and faculty of CMR Technical Campus?
Be accountable for the comprehensive education of students, advancing knowledge of student’s development through promoting the effectiveness of institutional programs, and services as a whole benefit to all the stakeholders of the institute. Ensure adequate training and resources are available for the enhancement of knowledge among students and faculty to build competencies. Helping students with their overall competency development during their education tenure. Give free hand to select adequate equipment for their respective departments which helps students to develop their practical skills. Allow the heads in projects and consulting activities in appropriate fields.
With your expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and High-Performance Computing, how do you integrate your research interests into the academic environment to offer students a hands-on experience with emerging technologies?
The University has given the freedom to the Autonomous colleges up to some extent to Incorporate subjects related to emerging technologies into the curriculum. The expertise and knowledge of the latest advancements in emerging technologies help the students to grab excellent opportunities and excel in their professional career.
How does CMR Technical Campus actively nurture an environment that encourages research, technological exploration, and collaboration to ensure it remains a top-tier institution?
By creating knowledge through research activities, learning outcomes for sustainable development is defined as educational goals that aim to support the student’s and faculty’s full development and well-being in a holistic and sustainable perspective.

How does the curriculum ensure the best practice of the industry?
We constantly update our curriculum according to industry developments, and we continuously research and take feedback from industry experts on the changes in the industry which will be carefully reviewed by the Board of Studies and approved by an expert panel of the Academic Council. In fact, we are one of the forefront institutes to bring AI, Machine learning and other programs into computer education. We have a dedicated language lab, an entrepreneurship student’s committee, a Chancellors Challenge Program for entrepreneurial students, and recently inducted software-based student management and exam systems. With the advanced teaching methodology, students are exposed to maximum practical learning and our placement committee is very strong in building industry students interface. Also, our internship semester gives a real taste of the Industry within the course.

What are the latest methodologies and new learning techniques you are using in teaching methods?
Interactive learning is a technique that seeks to get students actively engaged in the learning process, often through the use of technology. This is in contrast to more passive techniques like the traditional lecture. Starting from a concrete problem, instead of the traditional theoretical and abstract model, sees notable improvements in students’ ability to retain knowledge as well as the opportunity to develop complex competencies such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, or problem-solving. We also follow Problem-Based Learning (PBL) which is a cyclic learning process composed of many different stages, starting with asking questions and acquiring knowledge that, in turn, leads to more questions in a growing complexity cycle. Putting this methodology into practice does not only mean the exercise of inquiry by students but also converting it into useful data and information. the four great advantages observed with the use of this methodology are the development of critical thinking and creative skills, the improvement of problem-solving abilities, increased student motivation, and better knowledge sharing in challenging situations.
What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?
I would like to advise students to strive to be excellent at whatever they do. That is what makes them successful in the real world. It is critical that student benchmark their success based on where were they when they started their journey, rather than measuring themselves against their peers. Step out and take risks. Don’t let go of your dreams. Have short-term and long-term career goals and focus on efforts. Don’t Be Complacent, grow your skills and knowledge on a time-to-time basis and build your professional network.
