Dr. Sr. Vinitha (Celine E.) is the manager at St. Teresa College, Kerala. She holds a doctorate from Mahatma Gandhi University. She works as a research guide at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, a research supervisor at Anna University, Coimbatore, a Ph.D. examiner at Bharathiar University, and an M.Phil. guide at Bharathidasan University. Being the manager of St. Teresa’s College, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

It is not something that the manager alone can work on or construct a wonderful institute, since I believe in teamwork. We can operate well, I think, due to my crew. Teamwork and leading by example are values I hold dear, and I put them into practice inside my department as well. Our pupils acquire the skills necessary to lead. A leader cannot lead by themselves; they can only lead effectively if they have built strong relationships with their followers. For this reason, being a good leader is crucial to fostering appropriate teamwork.


Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

By providing cultural competency training to instructors, staff, and students, a courteous and understanding environment will be fostered. The creation of specific support services, such as mentorship and counseling programs, can help satisfy the unique needs of certain student populations. Cross-cultural understanding and a sense of community can be fostered through supporting student clubs and cultural events.


What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the university and the students are?

My main duty is to close the skills and knowledge gaps that exist between students and the demands of the industry by giving them professional etiquette instruction, campus recruiting training, and the best opportunity to advance their careers and become globally acceptable.


What do you think should be the university’s top priority over the next 10 years?  

The university's primary goal over the next ten years should be to improve and modify its curricula to better serve the changing demands of both society and students. This entails developing social responsibility and sustainability, encouraging inclusivity and diversity, incorporating cutting-edge technology and creative teaching techniques, and increasing accessibility and cost. It will also be essential to fortify industry ties, encourage innovative research, and consistently enhance services that are focused on the needs of students. The university can continue to be a leader in education by concentrating on these subjects and giving students the knowledge and abilities they need to succeed in a world that is changing quickly.

What do you see as St. Teresa's College's greatest strengths?

"Converting the mind into a living fountain and not a reservoir" is the primary goal of any educational establishment. Pumping in will fill something while pumping out will empty it. A teacher never knows when their learning ends; they have an impact on all of eternity. So, a mediocre teacher tells, an excellent teacher clarifies, a superior teacher leads by example, and a fantastic teacher motivates. In its broadest definition, education refers to everything that shapes a young person's identity and influences who they become over time. Education institutions ought to mold and develop people, not only serve as "information supermarkets."


How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute/ university?

By encouraging open communication, encouraging respect among all parties involved, and guaranteeing openness in the decision-making processes, I create a positive relationship and environment in my organization or university. My top priority is to establish a welcoming and inclusive environment where teachers, staff, and students all feel appreciated and in control. Consistent feedback systems and collaborative possibilities also enhance a pleasant and peaceful school atmosphere.


What are some plans that you’re currently (or will be) designing for St. Teresa's College's international affairs and/or students?

The plans for St. Teresa's College's international affairs and students are presently being discussed. These include growing the college's exchange programs with foreign universities, improving services for international students, encouraging cultural exchanges, and forming alliances for joint research and academic projects around the world.


You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

My rapport with the kids at St. Teresa College is one of the main things that makes my job enjoyable. Over the years, I've developed strong relationships with the pupils, which I value. Seeing them graduate with honors and achieve success is incredibly fulfilling. Teaching and interacting with society are two more important aspects that will help me advance in my career.
